*** The Official Nokia Lumia 620 Thread ***

Has to be sim free. It will be a work phone and they provide a sim card and then money towards a handset.

I've seen it for £199, which makes £104 as an upgrade on a contract look rather expensive tbh...

Sorry should have mentioned that is an upgrade on PAYG and not contract. I have a T Mobile PAYG sim on my spare phone which I used to get the discounted price of £109 as a upgrade and I use my giffgaff sim in it which is my main number. Basically your paying £109 for essentially a sim free phone. Hope that makes sense.

They do not normally come sealed. Must have just been done by the place he got his from.

Cheers for the heads up.

Its a work mobile. Company pays £200 towards the handset, but insists on buying through their own suppliers who wanted £209 sim free.

Still, £9 for a sat nav, can't complain.

The phone is cheap, made by Nokia & the software is second to none. What's not what to like, next year I will buying another Nokia Lumia for sure. I bought one in Feb

My girlfriend has one, she likes it but struggles with battery life.... Any tips?

Hi Matthew - does she have any chat apps running.. like Kik or whatsapp. - they suck the battery dry. I wouldn't expect her to uninstall though but yeah just watch what apps are running in background.

No I'm afraid you cant. Pesky programs but i love kik, it uses up so much juice though. What I've ended up doing is uninstalling and reinstall when needed. Not practical i know

I don't know about "Whatsap" but most apps you can disable from running in the background by going to Settings>Applications>Background tasks...

anyone compared lumia 800 with 620 ?
we have only problems with our 800 - it is being send for repair today(died on update) , and am thinking about going for 620 instead...
anyone ?

Having used both I personally think the 620 is a suitable replacement for the 800. Faster, roughly the same size (although a little thicker). Better microphones, SD slot, removable battery, dual core, etc. Perfect upgrade. Do it. Only downside is LCD on the 620 compared to AMOLED on the 800, but this isn't a deal breaker for me.

Has anyone figured out how to use custom Text and voicemail alerts ?

I can't believe a phone with the latest Windows OS does not let you have a custom alert apart from the ringtone.

Even that is a bit convoluted method to achieve it having to copy them to a ringtone folder and have specific criteria, eg 1mb or less.

Cheapest place to buy official replacement shells for these? Asked for a red one from work but they could only get black :(

I don't think they are available in the UK, all the online stuff seems to come from Germany with a hefty postage fee. I'm in Barcelona just now and even the Nokia shop didn't have them :(

not read all the thread, but has anyone had any issues with pairing the 620 to a car's bluetooth set?
Reports all over the web saying that WP8 bluetooth profiles aren't complete, hence the issues.
Mine simply won't connect a call with my built in set in my vauxhall insignia. It does everything else but when you try a call it just disconnects immediately.
