Bit disappointed at pricematch!

Just to continue with my previous post ;

YOUR BASKET
1 x **B Grade** AMD Llano A8-3850 2.90GHz (Socket FM1) APU Processor (AD3850WNGXBOX) with FREE DIRT3 PC Game £119.99
1 x **B Grade** Gainward GeForce GTX 460 GS 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £99.98
1 x **B Grade** Intel Core i3-2100 3.10GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £94.99
1 x **B Grade** Crucial 50GB Adrenaline Cache SSD £60
Total : £386.36 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Those items above, I do not understand why they are priced like this... especially the SSD and the llano CPU

You could buy 6800k for that price.

WHOA that is an incredible deal!

There will be a reason why the product is that much cheaper. We come across it all the time. They sound like either grey imports or non uk-European sourced products.

I get calls and emails on a daily basis with people offering these products but it would have serious implications for our business relationship with Intel.

I get it too in my work. I can bring prices down so much but I'd rather ask the boss if it's ok to drop it right down.

Think how much money we would make on that as a shop?

Lots of other products are the same but I wouldn't price match a set of £300 wheels to make £10 on them when they can go wrong and we have to send it back under warranty etc. Not worth the time or hassle.

Edit: A lot of the bike stuff is grey imports too. Coming in bags instead of retail packing. Not sure why the are allowed to bypass uk distributors in such a way.

Not making excuses for OcUK as some of their prices are quite steep even taking the customer service into account but...

While products are sometimes cheaper elsewhere from reputable etailer some of those really low prices are drop shippers and the like, here today gone tomorrow type outfits and theres no way for a company that operates like OcUK does to match those kind of prices in a sustainable fashion.

Also while not always the case sometimes OcUK is first to the (UK) market with a product and can't drop prices to the level that other etailers who've bought subsequent cheaper batches are selling at until they've sold out the initial batch and repurchased at the subsequent lower price.

Whats the problem with buying the cheaper part elsewhere?

Why do people struggle with this?
Purchase in the most cost effective way.

I try and buy my stuff from OCUK, but if what I want is cheaper elsewhere, I buy that and get on with my life.

The last full build I did I had stuff from 3 different companies, OCUK being one of them, and all the parts arrived with in an hour of each other the next day.

Thanks bud, i think this way too. I also think there are a few crusaders here who think OCUK are the ONLY decent etailer.
I'm happy with OCUK, but i'm also happy with about 3 of their direct competitors, all of whom i've had decent service from.
OCUK are my MAIN supplier cos in the main they are cheaper, but.....
Personally i think anyone who can't see the obvious logic in saving £35 on a sub £200 product by buying elsewhere is very shortsighted indeed.
If the product is faulty it gets RMA'd like any other product from any other supplier. And AGAIN, i've not had issues with other suppliers when RMA'ing.

Ok, let turn this around a little. imagine we are all on the competitors forum right now, and OCUK are offering the CPU at a crazy discounted price. I guess we'll all be saying "it's gotta be a grey import or something".
Every now and again OCUK come out with a cracking deal on a product that no one can match. What is different about this particular situation? Nothing as far as i can see.

The best person to comment on this would be Gibbo (he knows why)

Ah ha! a bit of a give away :-)

I agree that the best way to buy is to find the cheapest, making sure it's the real thing, then buy. Some times stores just have a special deal on certain items and taking advantage is no bad thing. The most important thing is to be absolutely certain you know what you are getting and understand the compatibility.

I can understand why OCUK won't price match by default (competing against lost leaders is a certain way to go out of business).

Trust in the supplier also has a big part to play in buying anything, most people here would trust OCUK but there are others who can be trusted however that only comes from experience. I would tread carefully with a new supplier.

Andi.
