*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Made a silly mistake. I wanted to unroot my phone. I noticed in the SuperSU program it gives you the option to unroot your phone. I went thought the process and sure enough it's unrooted. Sadly I left behind CWM Recovery and when doing a software update the phone reports it cannot upgrade due to the phone being modified.

I've found a guide to unrooting but you need root to perform some of the steps. I've tried re-reooting which says it completes OK in Odin but checking SuperSU each time states the binary is not installed.

Ideas? :(

hmm, its perhaps easier but wanamlite is a no wipe flash so you could just flash it straight back to normal. I ended up doing that last night as I flashed the removed apps zip stupidly thinking that REMOVED apps rather than replacing the ones that were REMOVED in the normal wanamlite file (any instructions are tl:dr to me :)) so I just flashed the wanam rom again and then jb dom again, so I went... wanam, removed apps, jb dom, wanam, jb dom all in the space of about 10 minutes, no wipes, no issues.

what did you do to get that error - I'll test it on mine.

Go into messaging and try to add multiple contacts rather than just typing their name. I have fully wiped and installed Omega - no problems. Installed 3Mint - no problems. Installed multiapp window mod - error occurs in messaging.

Flash a pre rooted rom in odin:)

I've got a vaguely interesting issue with my S4.

I've been using the google keyboard which has recently been added to the play store, I personally find that the best one and certainly the one I'm most used to.

So, with wanamlite it works fine but I think jb domination is messing it up, I flashed wanam, used the phone, installed google keyboard and all was fine.

Install JB dom over it however and it gives me a weird looking very basic keyboard which appears to be called android keyboard.apk in the app manager and the google keyboard has gone, no mention of it at all and installing from the play store fails every time as it's incompatible.

Its no real biggy, you can get jelly bean keyboard from the store which is essentially the same thing but I'd just rather have the first party version. Wonder what it is about the combination of wanam and JB dom that breaks this?

Can anyone else confirm this is the case?

For OTA update's it's not just the root, your binary counter will now have a 'custom' flag from the recovery. Ironically you're going to need root to reset the status/counter before you flash a pre-rooted or stock rom leaving the flag as official.

Ah right works on mine fine as I haven't installed multiapp.

Flash one of the pre rooted stock ROMs from XDA and yes Sky Go and some banking app wont work if you're rooted.

No, none of the UK models will have a locked bootloader that's only a problem on some of the US network handsets.

quick update on foxhound:

nothing to report :p had one FC, something to do with the samsung NFC payment app which i dont use anyway, so i froze it. Other than that, battery life is right where i would expect it - down to 72% after 13h25m with about an hour's screen time. The built in cpu tool stats app shows it's deep sleeping when it should be, so thats all fine. Performance is as good as ive seen from any other rom and the theme is the best out there at the moment, imo. everything is spot on really. Impressed :)

Battery life for those interested:

i dont know if i have the keyboard set up correctly, but the default samsung keyboard just acts stupid, like, instead of spelling "now" it'll put a comma there instead?! frustrating!

any ideas???

Swiftkey

i keep hearing about swiftkey. is it really worth the money for it? stock android/google keyboard looks out of place on my stock rom S4 :s but thats just me being picky :D

I believe you can get a free version of Swiftkey which gives you a 1 months trial.
