Any app that needs root access with ask for user rights. For instance Terminal Emulator, if it shows # you're rooted or if you see $, type su. It should ask for rights which you grant. If it changes to a # you're rooted. But there's loads you can try, Titanium, Root Explorer, Cerberus....
 
I want to install wanamlite rom but running into a few problems. I'm trying to root the device using TWRP, I go into download mode, load up odin everything is as it should. I choose the TWRP recovery file, flash, completed without errors. Now when I boot into recovery mode it loads up the default android recovery menu not TWRP, any ideas?

I keep getting signature verification error when trying to install ROM in CWD recovery. I've checked the MD5 checksum and it matches the file on my PC.....any ideas.....
 
This phone has a lot of bloatware even after installing Wanam!
315 upgrading apps and I've disabled what i could. I remember on my Nexus 4 it was only 160 apps.

Hmm after installing JB Dom, my phone has been stuck on the "Android is upgrading.....Starting apps" screen for the last 5minutes.........has it gone wrong?!

EDIT: Fixed after a forced reboot

I was using maps navigation earlier and a pop up box appeared with an upgrade to something like voice hd but I cancelled it as I was in a rush but now I can't figure out what it was. Anyone got any ideas?

iirc it is literally HD quality higher clarity voice for the navigation, I was prompted for it the first time I used maps, so I guess its an optional addon thats triggered by you using maps, so offering you higher clarity navigation commands.

I really need to get my phone rooted now, just worried about bricking it (Can you even do that with this?) or messing something up, if for nothing else but to be able to do a full back u/image to the PC now I have the phone similar to how I want it, aside form 2 things:

  • I want a good lock screen widget addon that will use the icons from my theme I am using
  • Is there ANY way to put a folder in a folder? So I can just have 1 popout on my home screen rather than my 6 folders?

fornowagain - I think I've done it right mate, followed your steps and came out with the below

I did Type 'exit' but nothing really happened so I pressed the X in the top corner of the terminal to close.


Made a zip file with Root Explorer with all 4 files in.

Job done? :)

Try this for me: Turn it off, should give a little buzz when it's done. Hold volume up and the power button, nothing else. When (or if) you see the blue writing in the top right hand corner let go. What happens?
