2 Living ETs Working with US Government

BTW amino acids have also been made from scratch in the lab by reproducing the conditions of the primordial soup with simulated lightening and so forth.

I'd like to know whether I'm an idiot or a barmpot because I'm forming opinions based on evidence.

There are three different things slopped together somewhat:

1) Life of some kind exists elsewhere in the universe.
2) People with at least a comparable level of intelligence to humans exist elsewhere in the universe - this is less likely than 1.
3) Some of them have come to Earth - this is less likely than 2.

I) agree with 1.

2) I don't understand the need for comparison.

3) I'd be really surprised if non of them have been to Earth. I'd be astonished. Much like I'd be astonished as a bacteria would be find out I'd been looked at through a microscope.

There is strong evidence to suggest that they have, but not for a very long time. May I refer you to the research of Erich Von Daniken amongst others?

"I know of no recent books so riddled with logical and factual errors as the works of von Däniken" - Carl Sagan

When I first read Chariot of the Gods, i was absolutely astounded. Däniken is a good author, just factually suspect.

Oh my word.
When I was 14 I took him all in and then sometime in the mid 70s the BBC did a documentary about some of his outlandish claims.
In his book he was talking about he Nazca Plains and showed pictures of where Aliens parked their spaceships but when the BBC showed his spaceship car park it was part of the Nazca Spider and they would have to have been 2 foot in diameter :)
In another part of the book he talks about an Alien metal pole in India that is made up of metals not of this Earth - no it isn't.
Don't get me wrong, I love Daniken and follow his work, I watch him on the series Ancient Aliens but I just want to punch him in the head. In fact I've watched every episode of Ancient Aliens and I want to punch all of them in the head.

I WANT TO BELIEVE so bring me something concrete please.

Why would a civilisation that is capable of inter planetary travel, come to our planet and abduct a red neck ploughing a field or his wife? Or mutilate cows?

Seriously, get real.

Aliens have never visited this planet and i would say you are more likely to "hear" from aliens, then to see one face to face.

There is a great talk by Neil DeGrasse Tyson (sp?) who explains nicely the simple fact that "War of the worlds" put forward, the millions and trillions of micro organisms that exist on our planet, just 1 of them could be completely deadly, so unless your "Grey" aliens are in fact inside a space suit, it would be impossible.

So no aliens have never visited us. Do they exist.......that depends, statistically yes, but if we live in a holographic universe then they might be inter dimensional aliens....pretty complicated.

We exist..... so its logical that other life exists in the universe. It far more likely that we are not the only life than it is to assume we ARE the only life.

We are only just exploring the laws of physics, we are children learning the first ABC's when it comes to that.

So for anyone to scoff and deny that advanced alien species can and do exist is simply illogical. If fact considering what we now know about the make up of the universe, to flatly say that only we exist as intelligent life is absurd indeed.

If you went back in time 500 years and took a person at random and brought them to a modern city they would assume most of our technology would be magic.... even technology that to us would appear mundane.

So imagine a civilisation perhaps 5000 or 10,000 years in advance of us. Mundane technology based on their advance knowledge of physics would appear to us to be impossible and fanciful.

So logically we can assume two things... we are not the only life in the universe. Anyone who assumes we are the ONLY life in the universe is probably the sort of person who believes in "god" :D

And we can also say that advanced technology that would allow passage through vast distances in space is also more than possible. Just because we do not currently understand the laws of physics in this field does not automatically make it impossible.

So those two simple facts make it very likely of alien visitation to earth at some point. The only real sticking point is wether it has happened yet, and wether its being kept secret knowingly or not.

As for me... I think its perfectly possible that we have made contact and that for whatever reason the goverments and agencies involved have kept it secret. I could cope with the facts of alien visitation and contact, but I know many people who would freak out and go doo-lally. So I can understand Why it would be kept secret.

As for this guy... he offers no proof so he cannot be taken at his word, the fact he was in the office he was does not automatically make him reliable.

I would like to think that there is a benevolent species out there who will help us when we are ready, but being the pessimist I always am I reckon we are more likely to be wiped out for our water and minerals :p

You laugh at those who don't believe in aliens, but also laugh at those that believe in God. Surely both are possible?

There is strong evidence to suggest that they have, but not for a very long time. May I refer you to the research of Erich Von Daniken amongst others?

I learnt something very important from Erich von Daniken.

I learnt to be more sceptical and give at least some consideration to the evidence.

I read Chariots of the Gods and ate it up. It was well written, made plenty of references to evidence and seemed very plausible. I was fairly convinced. Then I read a rebuttal which shredded it. Every single piece of evidence exposed as rubbish, either misleadingly presented (e.g. photos with carefully selected angle, distance and lighting that look quite different in any other conditions) or simply made up (not necessarily by Daniken himself), every line of argument exposed as a fallacy. It destroyed Daniken's arguments about as thoroughly as a steamroller trundling over raw eggs. A reviewer described it as "Chariots of the Gods turned into a pumpkin."

So I learned to do some checking for myself and not to believe.

Look up at the sky and count the stars (remember some twinkles are galaxies fuill of more stars). Every star probably has at least one planet. All you need for life is a solvent and some chemicals to float around in it. It's a very broad range that will work, just look at the life discovered at the bottom of the ocean. It doesn't even have to be carbon based just look at the sulfur and arsenic based fossils that have been discovered. For microbial life the planet doesn't even need to be close to earth-like.

How many of the 100 billion+ planets have a solvent on them like water? And how many millions of asteroids laden with amino acids will hit them over the millions of years they exist?

How many of the unknown number of planets meet all of the unknown requirements for life, each of which has an unknown chance of happening?

You are adding many unknowns together and calling it an absolute, definite, unequivocal fact. It is not. It is speculation.

Note that I'm not saying that there definitely isn't any life elsewhere. I'm saying that it's wrong to claim absolute certainty is not just a belief. We don't have the relevant evidence, simple as that.
