Hello all,

I went out today to buy a dB Meter and did a few tests. My PC has been this loud since I have brought it but never took any notice because I have some headphones but it is really getting to me now.

The machine is making 2 different frequencies at different pitches. I have turned the fans down in AI Suite II but a few months ago, the program can't load a few sub programs inside AI Suite II so I can't change them again and I am not sure what will happen if I uninstall AI Suite as it runs with the BIOS.

Here is a picture of how loud places are in my PC:

The PSU looks the loudest and will be removing it out of the machine and testing it again. Really hope I don't have to buy a new EVGA Supernova 650w or I might just RMA it if that is the problem.

Inside the PC (Watch out, this image is large and have no idea how to resize it? HELP? (Sorted)):

You can re-size in paint.

I would start by replacing all your fans for quieter ones (if you can, Bitfenix Spectra Pro's are great) and run the case fans from a fan controller. Quiet should be around 25-30db, when under load, I would expect early 40's.

Re sized in Imgur :)

I think that buying new fans is my last resort as the ones I want to pretty expensive.

someone else mentioned 'sound proofing' before - turned out it was foam on the front of the case blocking airflow - they ripped it out and everything was fine. ... just in case this is the same thing.

I can't see that any foam is blocking the way. TBH, it was a waste of money IMO.

When I stick my head inside my case, the three main components that are making some sort of noise is PSU, GPU and CPU fan (and maybe the pump)

I came across one last week which sounded like a pneumatic drill was going off. It was caused by two things daft as they are.
Firstly the hard drive wasn't 100% secure so was moving and rattling.
Secondly, one of the cables was not securely tied away from one of the fans and was catching. Sometimes, though not always, it is good to rule out the obvious first.

Had a look around, nothing is catching :( Tbh, it sounds more like its just a case of a noisy fan etc. I think I just need some more fans :(

You wont burn out the motor
Just put your finger over each of the fans individually slowing them down slowly until they stop
Just don't jab a pencil in there as this will likely break the fins more than anything.

Find out which fans are the loudest

Possibly worth investing in a fan controller if they are running at 12V all the time then they will likely be loud
I have a Lamptron FC2 which i like a lot. My PC runs almost silent
