Please don't take this person's advice. Plus, why would you insure an expensive cat but not a 'cheap' one? Are they more worthy of veterinary treatment? It's all part of being a good owner, no matter whether you cat is a 'semi wild one that cost 2k'.
I learnt my lesson - I have a mog, we did insure her, but didn't go for the lifetime cover.
She now has many allergies and has been diagnosed with an auto-immune disorder where her immune system attacks her skin. Her skin itches incessantly, she scratches constantly, it gets infected and she can't shake off the infection. She has nearly been put to sleep twice; it got that bad.
Thankfully, we have found a fantastic medication which has really brought it under control. But for the last two years, it has all been funded out of our pocket and no other company will now cover it as it is a pre-existing condition.
I reckon over the last three years we've spent about £5k on her. She's totally worth it but I just wish we had paid the extra few quid a month.
We are insured with Argos Pet Insurance who have always been good, and the prices are reasonable. But I would absolutely go for the lifetime cover policy if I could go back in time!
