Just a quick question on, shoes, cleats and clipless pedals.

My friend bought some shoes and cleats last week and has been complaining about them being all wobbly. I didnt know what he was on about so i tried his shoes on and they are, indeed wobbly lol. When in the pedal you can move your foot around from side to side quite easily. There is quite the range of motion.

They are the yellow Shimano cleats, and the cheap Shimano pedals, R450 i think? i have the yellow cleats on my shoes, and those pedals on one of my bikes and dont have any problems.

I need to try my shoes on his pedals to see if its a cleat or a pedal problem i guess

I know the yellow cleats have the largest degree of motion but this is way way more than on mine

If I were going Ti again and money were no object then I'd be going here or here

Legend are nice but c'mon they would be pretty low on my Ti dream list. Crisp maybe.

Otherwise I would be looking at: Seven, Passoni, Hamspten, Moots, Serotta, Strong, Kent Erikson, Steve Potts, Kish etc :)

But:

BAUM > The rest.

Went out on my bike today and the gear changes sucked big time! At times it wouldn't change up to the big ring at the front, then it was skipping gears or not changing at all. Also the chain seems to be making quite a bit of noise. Is this normal for a new bike while it all loosens off?

It's my second ride since I picked it up brand new. I'm guessing/hoping this is why bike stores usually offer 6 week services?

You can get a bit of cable stretch in newly built bikes. I would imagine that is if the indexing was ok to begin with then it is simply a case of adjusting the barrell adjusters to increase the tension a bit. Try turning the rear derailleur barrel adjuster anti clockwise a half turn or so and see if it improves.

See, I wouldn't have Moots, Serotta or Seven on that list.

I would, however, have an S&S coupled Kent Eriksen for putting in my suitcase when I go on holiday.

First day back on the bike in over two weeks due to holidays & I've really missed it.
Gained 5lbs while away as well, so got to put some effort in now. Although, that said this weekend is a right off as I'm away again for a wedding.

No cycling for me this weekend just gone and I'm working from home today.

Acute sinusitis, and apparently, arthritis in my jaw. I feel like I've been hit in the head with a brick.

I've done nothing but eat chocolate and ice cream feeling sorry for myself since sat morning...

That <190lb line on my weight tracking app still eludes me. :(

Anyone know anywhere in the midlands that I could potentially pick up a road bike for my gf to use? I'm happy to get her a nice one should she enjoy it but I want her to try it out for a while first.

I've looked on gum tree and ebay so far.

Hy/Rd are the next step from the Parabox; the master cylinder is in the brake housing so they are dual piston hydraulic but cable operated. They look a brilliant idea for anyone wanting hydraulic discs but without replacing the whole groupset.
Good news; road.cc gave them quite a favourable review yesterday. I may upgrade the CX bike to them later in the year.

Arthritis in your jaw? Too much eating, obv.

I'm still torn between these and the fully hydraulic Hylex ones. The advantage of these is that they will work with gears whereas the Hylex are single speed only (unless you want thumb or downtube shifters).

Downtube shifters and disc brakes would be very unorthodox. Fortunately unorthodox is your middle name, right? ;)

Yeah, but it's spelt Un'authordocks just to be different.

The frame I'm looking to get doesn't have down tube bosses and I don't fancy using band on ones.

What am I talking about - barcon is where it's at.... Now I just need Sram to product a hydraulic version of their TT brakes.
