**** The Official Superman - Man Of Steel Discussion Thread ****

8/10 from me. It's a 7/10 film but I think the rewatchability is there as I didn't check my clock once during the 2 hours and 20 minutes.

I basically thought that this film had quite a few truly great scenes but the editing and pacing was all over the place, plus the 45 odd minutes of disaster porn at the end meant that even though it looked fantastic (
Swung by his cape through 3-4 buildings
) it all kinda just melted into one.

There was certainly potential here and the lack of CK didn't bother me as this wasn't that film, wait for the next one.

Could be that he will be in the sequel if there is one.

Rumours are a sequel has been commissioned and is being looked at a late 2014 release, with a JL movie late 2015/early 2016.

Not sure if I want Lex in the next one, would prefer Braniac or maybe Doomsday (getting into dodgy territory there though).

I felt disappointed I would have liked to see more of him growing up and learning his powers over time , saving people and doing the normal superman stuff.

they could have saved this invasion crap for a sequel

As I've stated I really enjoyed the film, despite its flaws. Could they have done it differently, of course. My man gripe is that some of the editing could have been a lot better, and Lois Lane didn't really work in the film.

End of the day people should be grateful there is another Superman film after the abortion of Returns and more importantly we're another step closer to a JL movie, thats all I care about :)

Echoing a lot of peoples view here - but for me, the saving grace is not the usual Kryptonite 'oh oh oh' superman is weak story line. This shows a more hide in plain sight until a big event such as this to bring him into the world's knowledge for the first time.

Witht he announcement of possibly 2 and JLA, I am really hoping it's a Lex plot line for number 2 leading into JLA with a Doomsday kind of disaster. Should be enough time for them to link in a Batman and perhaps Flash/Martian Manhunter/Green Aarow film?

And to anyone hoping there's end credit, there isn't! Bah!

I can't help but think during all the fight scenes that Supermand should take some Kung Fu classes, just to learn the moves, how to deflect a shot, angle of attack, shifting body weight etc. There was just too much straight punching and more boring still, his main move seems to be just fly towards the opponent and tackle them.

Who woulda waited till the end anyhow ? 2 hours and 20 minutes of holding a Dr Pepsi in my bladder, I think guys must have thought whats going on in that urinal, lucky bugger.

Doomsday makes a better JL villian, next supes should be him "Really" learning his powers... I want him to shoot lasers narrow and wide angle beams and then smallville fireballs with that same intensity where his face looks like molten larva, I want him to not have to jump matrix style and take off.... he is Superman he can fly on will alone... I want him to hold a plane with one hand and not let an oil rig made out of metal be too heavy for him... I want to be inside superman

Last one is for Friday night

Everyone's a critic on here. An easy 8.5/10 from me and it lived up to the hype, something IM3 and ST didn't this summer.

- Great first half of the movie with Krypton and Clark growing up.
- Awesome action and CGI.
- No pussy baddy who has a bit of kryptonite.
- Lois would get it as she's clearly to shy and nice for her own good.

Saw it for the 2nd time last night with Knubje and Eulogy. We all agreed it was pretty decent I think. 2nd viewing allowed me to focus on things I didn't the first time round, also better seating meant I could enjoy it more.

The Easter eggs referencing Batman and Lex Corp were interesting, a big DC Universe awaits in future films ;)

How would he be able to train to do any of that though with any human opponent when his earth farther strictly forbid him fighting back when being bullied?

The combat makes perfect sense when you take that into account, plus the fact that he can't actually be hurt anyway.

yea and when your superman on a planet with normal people you have no reason to learn martial arts as he can already defend himself anyway just be being him...

That's what made it great for me. We all know about the Clark story lines, its been done to death in the previous Superman movies.
