He'd have lost his job and almost certainly wouldn't be allowed to work in such a position again, at the very least. While she and he were both was at the school, he was in a position of trust and would almost certainly be prosecuted.
I do have a little sympathy with them as a couple, but only on the proviso that they get back together when he's released and go on to have a healthy long-term relationship, but I'm certainly not excusing what he did in any way whatsoever.
This is wrong.
The girl would have to be 18 due to the position of trust that he held (being her teacher). If he wasn't her teacher then they could legally have sex when she was 16. Anyone can have sex with anyone LEGALLY as long as both parties are 16 or over and have consented. There is no "age gap clause"
For abduction - in E&W I am sure the legal age is 18 before the "child" can be taken outwith parental supervision without parental agreement. 16 in Scotland.

Losing his job is nowhere near as bad as getting stuffed for abducting/running away with a minor.

Funny how people feel sorry for them as a couple, the guy was married and only a year prior. I dont know what his wife was like as a person which is important but she was pretty.

Basically he was in a position of trust over a child.
In my profession (social care) you end up in deep dodah if you carry on with a client/service user etc. Child = person with dementia = person with learning difficulties. All may consent in some form but how capable are they? You can't pick and choose vulnerabilities just because one might be a 'sexy' 15 year old.
We had to dismiss member of staff (female) for an inappropriate relationship with one of our male service users. It was basically made so she could never work in the caring/support profession again..she got reported to every Safeguarding and profesional body out there.

How is being a victim her fault? The guy is now a convicted criminal and will most likely spend a long time jail for he's crimes. He used his position to gain her trust and he must have been aware of the law but still went ahead with it anyway.
How is it grooming if she said she'd commit suicide if she didn't go with him or take her away? Sounds to me as if she was just to play a part in this as he was. It didn't seem as if she came up to her and started GROOMING. She isn't a victim, just look at all the chav girls with kids in prams under 16!
She should get punished as well
