Missing girl 15, runs off with Maths teacher.

No sympathy. As a professional he should have known better. Young females at that time of life will develop crushes on teachers. It is well known and strategies of how to avoid this and other 'situations' are taught in Teacher Training.
He was either unprofessional or he had inclinations for underage girls.

Always weird these sort of cases. They all hinge on the idea that a single day makes all the difference in the world. When you are under 18 you are a stupid young girl infatuated with your teacher but the next day you are 19 and a sudden maturity dawns upon you and you realise that a teacher has been taking advantage of you and abusing their position.

I don't know; I find it all rather bonkers to be fair. I have heard so many people who never had a problem with something that happened to them when they were younger but who blame it for their failures in life and happiness once they have grown older and not achieved what they wanted in life.

So you get 5.5 years for a consenting relationship (she would pass Gillick competence at this age even if the law still deems here unable) with a single person almost at the age of consent albeit using a position of power and authority.

Or 1.5 years for systematically forcing yourself on young girls well away from passing any sort of consent assessment...

Guess it depends on the amount of influence you can wield at the end of the day.

Aye book thrown at him.
If she till wants him after he is released they will be old enough to have a legal relationship, if he cared that much he should have waited a year and had her leave school. The legal age for consent is only 16 here, not 18 like people seem to think, but as her teacher he is bound by w whole different set of rules.

I find the judgement strange. Stat rape, yes. Yet I don't he was charged directly with it. Kidnap, I can't see this, but I didn't see the court evidence.

To be fair, when my daughter is 15 if she starts a relationship with a 30 year old schoolteacher, I'll probably be done myself for something, but on what he was charged with, and what he got, and what others are getting for full rape offences, it's very very strange legal system we reside within the confines of.

Well I must have missed that part of teacher training and non of the 7 male trainees I have mentored since have mentioned it either.

I'm not condoning it and you should know better without being told, but training on putting girls off crushes does not happen.

Legal age applies as 18 for relationships with those in a position of responsibility.
And stat rape is lower than the age of consent by quite a few years thinks it's 12 now (or 14). Not something I worry about tbh as 30 looks young to be these days :(
