Do you check your pay

When I was on call so got extra over my salary for that and overtime I'd check that the gross figure had the correct additions to it for that month, mainly because it was not unheard of for our payrole people to mess up.

Now I do neither so it's just a case of glancing at the net total and seeing that it's the usual figure (this month it wasn't but that's due to last years season ticket loan payments ending)

When I was paid expenses then yes I used to check those. When I used to be paid hourly (a LOOOONG time ago) then yes.

Now, I get the same pay every month - so as long as it's the same figure, then I know it's all good.

I get the same wage every month, the only time I'd check it is if I had a wage increase (like I will in September for example) we have an online system at work which breaks it all down - pension etc. so we can check exactly what's been paid.

I do check my wage slip every month though to check they've paid me the correct mileage/expenses, which vary from month to month

We moved to electronic payslips, didn't like it to start with but meh don't really mind now.

You do have a legal right to see your payslip before you are paid though, IT downtime for payroll run isn't a reasonable excuse it has to be back up and accessible before it hits your account.

We still get ours posted, recently it has been turning up on payday after I've already been paid, dunno if its payroll being crap, or Royal Mail being crap. Was much easier when we used to get it given to us at work, think they stopped it to stop people talking about their wages with others.

Ahhh ok I was wondering! Bloody paperless stuff

The ironic thing is, if we want paper copies we have to put it in writing! So you've gone paperless to save trees, but if I want paper copies, I have to waste a piece of tree to request more pieces of tree? :D

To be honest no, aslong as the figure is roughly what I'm expecting I don't bother to double check it.

That's pretty much the same for me, I know some of my colleagues check all their overtime but I just work mine out roughly and if the final figure is in the same ballpark I'm happy.

I open the payslip and check it every time. Have to ensure oncall and overtime has been added to the correct number of hours.

To be honest there's been times where I've had loads of them piled up unopened. I very rarely even check the bank balance.

Yup, last job got to the stage where I was taking photos of both the rota and sign in/out sheet, to pull out each month when they inevitably underpaid me again, despite whatever promises they made the month before.

Which ultimately reduces paper due to the unlikelihood of anyone needing paper copies?

I only check mine in June as I get a bonus for Fire Marshall duties. The rest of the year it's the same.
