Nelson Mandela 'critically ill in hospital'

As a White South African reading this I could easily take offense at being stereotyped. I won't though because being offended by every little thing is silly.

The term "saffa" is super offensive though, if you were the type to be offended, so if you were feeling PC you might want to refrain from using it.

Lol, you what?

I am South African, and saffa is slang for just that, just like ozzie and kiwi are for Australians and New Zealanders.

Going to be interesting to see how things pan out when Mandela passes away, glad I am not there anymore and can observe from a distance.

Sidenote: Saffa is not intended to be offensive (this thread is the first I have ever seen/heard of it being offensive). As mentioned before, no different from Ozzie, Kiwi, Brit etc.

Not more akin to a native american indian being called a hillbilly or a yankee? If that makes sense. Being offended at being grouped with something that means nothing to you.

My mother is a Native American, I doubt she would feel offended at being called a hillbilly or yankee...I suspect she would find it slightly silly as she is neither.

Krooton however is a South African and so the term Saffa applies to him, and he (as did others) gave their opinion on it, and with the one exception it appears it is a term without offensive connotations.
