Always funny to read people saying "its too late I don't care", the same people that will be first in line to preorder once its available to do so. Apparently having a break from a game for a while instead of force feeding it down our throat every year ala cod is a bad thing to do.

I'd buy it. Once it gets a 75% discount in the Steam sale, that is ;)

Tbh, I'm looking forward to many games, and HL3 isn't one of them. Truth.

exactly this, i think the gaming community on whole (myself included) is incredibly fickle :p the amount of times a game has been looking to be released and had discussions with people and one min itis "hell yea going to pre-order this" to "no way am I ordering this unless I see blahblahblah" or "i'm going to wait until after release and see what others say". quite funny really as I'm guilty of it too xD Like I was holding off from preordering BF4 thinking... pffff better not be a rehash of BF3... saw the footage at E3 and then threw my wallet at the screen as EA weren't taking my money fast enough xD

*had written a paragraph about time between games using cod and bf as examples but decided against it as I don't want to derail the thread into a BF vs cod fight.*

If you make an amazing game you shouldn't need to release a game every year as the content (and maybe dare I say it....DLC) should keep you interested and repeatable playability, then the next game should blow your socks away.

meh I dunno... I'm starting to ramble....

tl dr: people are fickle, EA take my money, blown socks

I've carried a torch for a new HL game for a long time. But Valve have long since worn down my patience with their wall of silence.

I'm not saying that I wouldn't buy it if it ever actually came out, but Gabe can go **** himself for his lack of respect for his fans.

Saying that round here is like taking a poop on a Bible in Alabama.

Why would Valve ever release a HL3? I bet everytime they say or do something slightly off tens of thousands descend onto the Steam store to look. And well, once there, something else happens to be 75% off.

No. Valve have never announced HL3.

This whole "hype" is purely fan made, and yet some how Valve are too blame?

Yes but they as good as did, doing one over on us by releasing ep1 and ep2 of what surely was always planned as a trilogy (or more?).
Just imagine the ****storm if Chris Nolan only ever did the first 2 Batman films and the TDKR just lingered for years (and years and years).

I think Valve MUST know the dissapointment they have caused millions of gamers over hl3/hl2ep3 with the utter radio silence. Considdering the Worldwide acclaim every title in the IP recieved they must also know they've scored a massive home goal with it.

Personally I think something must have been in development for years over many different guises - just look for the old DNF or TF2 vids to see the different engines and for whatever reason, budgetry no doubt its just never happened.

I just really wish Gabe would give a straight answer. "Yes we are working on it but it wont be out for ******* ages" or "No". Not some idiotic comment about sharks.

They DID anounce episode 3. HL3 coming out before/instead of was always only a theory based on the fact that ep3 was taking forever.

People who "don't care" posting over fifty posts so far in a thread about a game that doesn't even officially exist :)

If you write down the names of the people saying they definitely won't buy it, you will see some of those same names in the game thread after it's released moaning about the "graphics" or how it's "too linear".

This will be like Duke Nukem all over again. Valve are getting dangerously close to the waiting period whereby no matter how good the game is, it will get bad reviews.
