No the mfr gets the source code etc from google, they create a vodafone version, an o2 version etc then give it to them to test, they test and approve then roll it out if/when they feel like it.
So the sim free version ends up at the bottom of the pile because their "customers" (yes I know we're all their customers but in reality their customers are the networks that facilitate getting their stuff into our hands) come first.

Either that or I just go back to flashing custom ROMs 


Spend so much time trying different stuff out and then when you read through the ROM threads, you see quite a few always posting some form of a problem/niggle, be it battery drain, slow down etc. (of course it might not necessarily be down to the ROM) and that puts me of straight away [OCD about stuff like that
