No the mfr gets the source code etc from google, they create a vodafone version, an o2 version etc then give it to them to test, they test and approve then roll it out if/when they feel like it.

So the sim free version ends up at the bottom of the pile because their "customers" (yes I know we're all their customers but in reality their customers are the networks that facilitate getting their stuff into our hands) come first.

Oh yeah.. and no.. I know nothing ;)

Ah I see! Annoying that.........

That has definitely made me want to buy only google supported/nexus devices now :( Either that or I just go back to flashing custom ROMs :(

Honestly the custom ROM thing is so easy and so much better than it was when I last half bricked an og galaxy s the whole debate seems pointless to me.

But then I'm not the sort of person to sit and contend with an issue I can fix myself.

Which is probably why nothing works quite right in my house but then I've got iOS 7 on my cooker and the washing machine has never been the same since I made it dual boot with sailfish.

I just can't be bothered with the faff these days :p :o Spend so much time trying different stuff out and then when you read through the ROM threads, you see quite a few always posting some form of a problem/niggle, be it battery drain, slow down etc. (of course it might not necessarily be down to the ROM) and that puts me of straight away [OCD about stuff like that :o] :p

I'll be rooting my one S as soon as a sense V5 rom is fully working though!

Yeah that is a great lock screen app!

Only problem I have with it (and other lock screen apps) is when using the pin code lock, it messes up the incoming calls screen on sense :(

My S4 screen cracked whilst in my pocket and has been away for repair, Should be getting back soon. Does anyone have any recommendations to help protect the screen, A guy in the shop recommended the Tech21 Impact Snap With Cover but looking at Amazon the reviews for it are bad.
 
@kona Am still running the slim deodexed MEA ROM Mate. Can't be bothered flashing any ROMs at the moment as I'm happy with this one at the moment.

Who needs a GE S4, when you can have the best of both worlds.

Looks like stock but have the benefits of TW.

I don't know if it's been posted before but Vert has released a white themed version of his JB Dom theme. Looks good.

True, but I suppose if you've got a white S4 and don't want a black / grey theme running throughout the phone you can always flash this theme.

I personally wouldn't flash it as I don't want to give myself a heart attack! :eek:
 
I almost considered flashing it and then remembered I already give my battery a good spanking it doesn't need any more reason to die on me.

I can in fact it's plugged in right now, a full commute and working day of google music over 3g seems to give my battery a good kicking.

I know what you mean, my commute takes a fair chunk of battery watching videos. At least you've got your S4 plugged in replenishing the battery :)

@Nexus Cheers Mate, I thought the same hence why I downloaded the apk from XDA, I sure as hell wasn't going to give someone 84p for something he/she didn't create. Still the alternative's there if you want to apply the wallpaper and get the GE look.

I had to buy another 2amp s4 charger just for the office because trying to charge it off a 500ma usb port was driving me nuts! :o and I've got a couple of spare batteries for when I'm away from a plug for a couple of days :D

pretty much all roms are giving people wifi issues - i had the same issue when i initially moved to MEA. the radio stuff seems to be difficult on the s4, at the moment. I had to flash my baseband twice in succession to get it to change to an mf8 base for example. This is on foxhound, but look at omega, wanam, CM etc - all threads on XDA have people with wifi issues.
