The *Official* Eve Online Thread

Gah I hate that I have no idea how to play this anymore, theres a lot of new stuff and the game is looking so much better than when I tried the last free 5 day reactivation. New sites appearing randomly from the scanner is pretty cool looking. What are the incursions all about?

I am in serious need of cash though, seems all the prices are ridiculous compared to when I last played! I have a tengu but thats about it, never tried wormholes as I was always too scared :P

I've started playing this again, it seems a lot better than last time I played it.

Could someone give tips of getting money or is mining probably the best one?
Is there still an OcUK corp going?

Cheers

Mining isn't great isk unless things have changed significantly in the recent patch - but if they had I'm sure I'd have heard of ships costing less from supply!

Wormholes are good isk, incursions and null are decent too. Think exploration is meant to be a lot better now (around lowsec in particular?)

No OCUK corp remaining, everyone has gone their own ways now. TXSI were the nearest thing to one for the last few years - but we merged into another corp.

Me and a friend only started a few days ago so that might be dangerous, but I'll look into those later. I am going to work out if building items from ore is more profitable than just selling the processed materials, hopefully it is.

My friend is looking to buy a Caracal, to make some wild missile machine, what ship should I get so we can go around murdering things, doing missions and having fun? My race is Caldari.

Thanks,

Manufacturing/refining isn't generally worth it unless you've got maxed skills. If you're interested in mining it's best to find a mining corp that do regular belt stripping, you'll get benefits from mining buffs/easier transport etc in groups.

You dont need max skills, but you do need a good month or twos worth of focused industry skills. Potentially as much as 4-5 months (depends what you build of course!) and its a bit of a multi account type ordeal.

Tried Eve for a while and I really like it but I only have 1 thing that personally I wasn't too keen on, Always being flagged for PvP even if you don't want it.
I know a lot of people that would play this, Me included, If PvP was optional not forced on you.

You wouldn't like it in the long run if you dont want pvp. It really isn't hard to avoid being killed. You can care bear in highsec just fine. It just pays well to be sensible. Just because you can be killed doesnt mean they will or its easy.

I don't recommend sitting in highsec never engaging in PvP. That is entirely missing the game. But its doable and you can make it extremely difficult for someone to kill you to the point where its too much effort or just downright too expensive.

I dislike PvP in other MMOs but you need to approach eve different.

I've just started playing - spent a bit of time in a Merlin doing the missions (military, advanced military and exploration). I've just got a Cormorant destroyer so want to continue doing PvE missions, but there aren't any more available from the agents. When I 'search agents' the only ones that come up are 21 jumps away in null sec! Where do you go for more missions?

I don't fancy going into null sec only 5 days after starting as I'm sure I'll get nailed within minutes :/

I wouldn't play if you weren't flagged for PVP.

Luckily for me, EVE devs are all old-school MMO griefers and have no interest in making a WoW-alike where I can't educate everyone I see on risk/reward.

Resubbed. In Blackrise in FW. Flying frigs, badly.

That's what I miss about the old school MMOs was the ability to attack anyone, any faction anywhere, anytime. There were of course some safe zones but it was all out war. I love it, I just wish I could get in to Eve, I'm just sat there skilling away not playing and possibly will for the next few months, at about 12mil SP now, ordered the collectors edition too!

Am I right in thinking that joining a corp in order to steal absolutely everything is a legitimate game strategy?

Shooting people that literally started the game 5 minutes ago into space dust is considered fine in EVE to "Teach" them about losing and dying and all that BS that so many people come out with, So robbing a corp at least in my eyes is fine as in EVE it's everyone for themselves.

It is legitimate, fun and very profitable! :D If you do it be sure to take screen shots and document it for extra fun and gloating on the ever forums!

Online POS

We were fighting some guys in a C4 WH for a week and noticed that alliance members were also using the POS. So we applied an alt to one of their industrial corporations in order to get access to the ff for ourselves. I don't know why you would allow someone in your alliance without an api check, ts interview or kb check and give them the right to shut down your POS (in another coporation in said alliance). In total we got about 50 billion, the contents of 2 more ship arrays + 3 corp hangars + 2 chimeras are unfortunately not on the screenshots.

Offline POS

We started bumping ships out first before we realized that they actually really gave alliance members the right to shut down the forcefield, unfortunately we couldn't take the fuel out though.

Some of the t1 ships we later found in an additional ship maintenance array, we actually started shooting every t1 cruiser hull, as we couldn't move it all.

After we got all the ships they also sent out an alliance mail http://pastebin.com/qe3vGe1q (unfortunately in german, basically saying "We are done" and "There is nothing left", although they might restart and seem quite calm and rather sad). We also later got a hilarious T3 kill as one of their members accepted a fleet invite from my cloaky alt and warped to my main waiting a in a bubble :) http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=18395441 + video

Cleaned up POS

Unfortunately they onlined the POS again but it looks a lot nicer now.
I think it's pretty hilarious that this happens in the game. Everyone seems to paranoid. I joined a corp to do some mining and they had to background check on me with my API keys.
