They can bid all they want, I can't see him going to anyone in the EPL if/when he leaves..

Especially with the extra Levy they will have to pay ontop of any transfer fee.. :p

In other news, sounds like Paulinho is all but done, which if it comes off will be a decent signing. Moves for Villa also seem to be gaining momentum, which again if it comes off will be a good signing. A couple more decent signings and we will be in good shape for next season :)

Tommy Huddleston to Sunderland? 5M

I'd take that - he's handy to have as a benchwarmer, but he's not quite up to starting in the system we are looking to go with and understandably wants to play week in week out.. quite how he'd get on with Di Canio though..

I really don't think we'll get Ronaldo or Bale. Ronaldo is a possibility if he tries to force his way out of Real Madrid, but aside from that I don't hold out much hope.

Isn't there some financial reward/intensive in his contract for staying at Madrid?

I'd wait until you see him in lilly white shirt first.. You know the sharks are about. :p I'm a little confused as to why he's wants to join Spurs.. not that i'm complaining mind.

I would be amazed if we get either. I will be shocked if we get Thiago to be honest but at least it seems like we are looking to buy a central midfielder. Buying young Barca starlets is always more of a "borrow" than a buy anyway so it wouldn't be the worst thing if we didn't get Thiago.

Seems to be more talk about an improved offer for Baines ~£15m which I would be more than happy with. Baines is a great player and Evra has been on the wane for years. Last year was his best in a long time and he was still not great a lot of the time.

If we got Thiago and Baines that would be fine by me. Screw everyone else unless we get rid of Rooney.

Nathan Redmond's agent has said his client wants to play for Everton before anyone else... and we're also in for Lee Chung-Yong apparently.

I know there is a long way to go but just got a feeling nothing will happen with Hiuain and we'll end up with more average squad players. You on about Grenier? Yeah don't hold your breath lol.

Yeah i believe we put in a cheeky bid for Grenier of £10m, but that doesnt mean its the end of it. I dont know enough about him to guess his real value. But he has been compared to Nasri (10m sounds fair then :p)

As for Higuain I think we will hear in the next few days but all things point to positive. I think the delay with be Wenger penny pushing again with RM. Lets hope he doesnt blow the deal or someone comes in and grabs him.

SUNDERLAND have apparently agreed a fee for Arsenal goalkeeper Vito Mannone, which is no real surprise. He can be great on his day but was a little inconsistent to challenge for 1st spot.

Utd value Rooney at £38m

According to the valuations released in the CIES report they will have pay up to £38m to sign the player at his market value.

I am so glad they put that price on his head so we keep well away. £38m and probably £200-300 per week on top :p

Maybe one of the new French teams will come knocking but I would be surprised if anyone else did at that price.

53mil cavani or 38 Rooney , Rooney is the bargain there

Player values shouldn't really be compared in the quest for valuations though. Cavani isn't worth £50 million and Rooney isn't worth £38 million.

I'm sure I did hear that Ronaldo made Madrid more than his transfer fee in his first few years through revenue he generated. That may be complete rubbish however.

Higuain on route to Arsenal!

Sky Italia say we've bid £5m for Honda. Probably isn't true because it's Sky Italia but I would go mental if this happened!

I'm sure he will be snapped up at that price then ;)

Cavani is the most wanted player in his position at the moment, Rooney can't even get into the starting 11 at Utd...

Can't really compare them as I don't know enough about Cavani but £38m and £200-300k per week is not a bargain for Rooney. Maybe 5 years ago when he seemed to care more about his football than his hairline.

Getting close CliffyG:

New Real Madrid head-coach Carlo Ancelotti has given the club’s president Florentino Perez the thumbs up to pursue Tottenham’s Gareth Bale and sell Gonzalo Higuain to Arsenal.

According to Spanish newspaper El Confidential, Real’s primary summer goal is to persuade Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to sell Bale, who bagged 21 league goals last term in an stunning campaign for the north London outfit.
