Was it Ljajic or was that someone else? You always seem to very briefly have Eastern European players!

We never actually bought Ljajic, we cancelled the transfer and he went to Fiorentina.
Indeed, but you were willing to drop 17 on the pair, and had agreed that until the deal for one of them didn't happen.
Zoran Tosic and Adem Ljajic (who we opted not to buy.)
The latter has actually gone on to be really good.
£17m over 4 years as it would never be upfront is 4.something, not to bad if they turn out good and even if we get flops could probably almost make the cash back
Seems like a nice guy. Apparently a lot of the young guys were fond of him always there to help out and stuff. Not sure he'll be enough of a positive impact with Woods and Round there though! Haha

Officially (according to the premier league) the transfer window is from the last game of the season till August the 31st (or something around then when it falls on a weekend), in england anyway, which is why quite a few deals have been done/announced, just photo op stuff hasn't been done really whilst everyone is on holiday.
The delay is that other transfer windows around Europe use different start dates and most contracts are written till June the 30th so stuff doesn't really get going to today onwards (plus all players have a months guarantee after their contract expires in June to cover July whilst looking for a new team). Basically when the season isn't happening you can do transfers and the window more accurately refers to the moments when the season is happening and transfers are still allowed.

Some rumours going around Arsenal have had a 23m bid rejected fir Lars bender apparently.
Yep was just being reported on SSN a few mins ago, i think it was a £19mill bid. The lad has a contract till 2017 and seems like he is happy enough to say there till the end of his contract.
