further reading shows the rumours were true and the deal was pledged on 22nd. the corinthians director confirmed paulinho is going to a london club and will join them after a short holiday.

didn't actually say tottenham though but i have never heard any other london club being in for him.

Skysports quoting Paulinho as saying Inter Milan were also in for him.

This is fantastic news though, glad we've done some business early on.

Now hopefully we can hijack Arsenals bid for Higuain :p

EDIT: Just seen the Gooners have signed Yaya Sanogo so now we won't even need to hijack the move :D

No real loss;), Fab did a pretty decent job of taking over from Chessers when he was being rubbish and making silly mistakes in goal.

I've always liked Chesney, yeah he's made some mistakes but he's still young and unlike Almunia and the likes seems to have the confidence to not let it bother him. Like I said though I cant see him staying if he see's a senior keeper being brought in ahead of him.

“This is a very hard moment for me, I have had 3 great years at Corinthians, but now it’s time to go to Tottenham.” – Paulinho.
Tottenham have secured the signing that has been rumoured for a few weeks now, one of Brazil’s Confederations Cup stars – Paulinho.
The 24-year-old midfielder confirmed the transfer alongside Corinthians director of football Roberto de Andrade at a press conference, a day after helping Brazil beat Spain 3-0 in the Maracana.
The powerful midfielder was very emotional and cried on a number of occasions as he said goodbye to Corinthians, with whom he won the Club World Cup at the end of last year.
Tottenham’s new signing confirmed he will now be travelling to London and will not take part in the Recopa Sudamericana matches against Sao Paulo for his former club.
He confirmed the only offer Corinthians received came from Tottenham, despite reports Inter Milan had made a bid.
At the reported fee of 17 million pounds, Paulinho would become Tottenham’s record signing.
“The proposal came in, we sat down, analyzed and resolved it. I’m sure I made a great decision going to a big club too. There comes a certain time when you need new challenges,” said Paulinho.
Roberto de Andrade thanked Paulinho for his time at the club where he also won the Campeonato Brasileiro and Copa Libertadores.
In 167 games for Corinthians, Paulinho scored 34 goals.
Spurs fans and manager Andre Villas-Boas will now be licking their lips at a physically imposing midfield that includes Sandro, Mousa Dembele and Paulinho.

Wigan boss Owen Coyle tells @bbc5live 'it's not rocket science to suggest that Arouna Kone will leave. He wants to join Everton.'

Owen Coyle tells 5live that striker Arouna Kone likely to join #efc from #wafc this week. 'He would leave with our blessing.'

Does seem like it's being held up because Wigan want all the money up front. Just meh, completely uninspiring to be honest.

Latest on Thiago according to twitter is that there were some reservations by us to put a similar clause in his contract to that he had at Barca; basically so he can leave at such and such a price if he doesn't play x amount of games/minutes/minutes in games (whatever it is), we've now apparently agreed to that. Sounds like BS to me because I didn't think players had buyout clauses over here?

I can't see it happening either, i think it's quite clear now that Thiago might have a role to play for Spain in the world cup. I don't think Barcelona are that stupid to allow a player of his caliber to leave.

Cesar's a good keeper but if Arsenal sign him I cant see Sir Chesney staying

What is Caesar, 33? I don't see that being a problem for him. He might learn a thing or two and come out fighting.

Higuain needs to be wrapped up though or it's going to be a long summer. It's very encouraging to keep getting linked with these players but it will be nicer to actually sign them.

I think Szczeny will stay at arsenal even if we sign Cesar, he hasn't been consistent enough to be a solid number 1 and he could learn from Cesar if he does join.
Also the Sanogo deal was sealed a while back so Higuain is still on, hopefully it'll be confirmed this week *very hopeful look*

You need two decent keepers anyway nowadays, I would have thought Wenger will want to hang onto Szczeny. That Sanogo looks a good signing, some extended clips of him here against Spain recently, definitely shows glimpses. Some lovely touches in there...

He is too good, to not get the deal wrapped up, before one of the money bags teams like City or Chelsea decide they got some loose change and fancy a new striker to add to the other 5 they already have!

That video makes him look like another adebayor...he seemed to have a decent scoring record last season, a goal even other game.

All faith in Wenger buying youngsters.
