Channel 4 to broadcast the Islamic call to prayer every morning during the holy month of Ramadan

Agree totally with your post.

It's astonishing how many Islamophiles we have in the audience. People I know who previously had nothing nice to say about them are now rabid apologists.

"You can't judge them all by the actions of a few" is like the feeble-minded's mantra of the month.

For some ungodly reason I can't figure out, telling everyone, constantly, how "un-racist" you are is the new black. It's disingenuous and boring.

Indeed.

I see Islam as a potential threat. In every country where Islam is in position of power things are deteriorating quickly towards totalitarian state based on foundations created by the dude who spent too much time walking around desert and end up hallucinating in a cave. As a result - secular, scientific society created robots which are walking on Mars while barbarians like Saudis are practicing public executions and sex segregation thinking that maybe giving women rights to drive a car someday will be an amazing sign of progress.

For hundreds of years Islamic scholars were the light of reason in a world dominated by the pig ignorance and brutality of the Christian world. It is though Islamic scholars that we know of the works of the Greek philosophers; it was Islamic scholars who invented algebra (the 'al' bits a clue) and Islamic scholars who gave the number '0' and thus enabled arithmetic.

The position of Islamic countries in today's world tells you much about geopolitics and little about religion. There's nothing inherent about Islam that makes it worse than Christianity.

Nonsense. It's way worse. I don't hear about Christian suicide bombers, Christian child mutilators or Christian rape gangs.

And there's the business about the founder of the religion being a paedophile.

Seems like a complete non-issue to me; it's just a TV programme, who cares? It would irk me slightly if there was reason to believe that Islam is being given special treatment by Channel 4 so I'd hope they'd either do similar things for other religions, or none for any of them. Either way though, it's just a TV programme, nothing to get worked up about.

Why are you so eager to defend Christians?

He isn't, he's just pointing out that the last act of terrorism perpetrated by a Christian was the Gunpowder Plot :D
And technically that was a political act anyway.

The last terrorist act in the name of Islam was, oh I dunno, last week was it? Hard to keep track really :o

Yes, they usurped Greek and Roman learning as they sacked and looted their way from the Arabian peninsula all the way to France and Austria.
