Got a feeling he's in it for one last pay day. If he is fired up he will be useful.
Shanghai Shenhua was supposed to be a big payday and it didn't work out, so maybe West Brom will be the beneficiary - an Anelka who is keen and enthusiastic to play some quality football again. He has a history of doing well to begin with at new clubs, so I expect him to be good for at least the first half of the season, and if his performance level drops later then at you won't be stuck with him for too long.

Would be funny to see how many times you've typed "Higuain" out in this thread so far :) I bet it's over 100.

LOL probably because for the first time in god knows how many years, there's a real chance of Arsenal signing a genuine world class player. Plus I do like Higuain, he did well at Real so am hoping he brings that killer touch aka Henry style back to Arsenal.

Bit harsh. Giroud equalled Welbecks goals for he season in one game. :D

:D

If we sign Higuain I will be excited. Its a sad state of affairs however, that Arsenal fans get so excited by a player as City, United, Chelsea sign 3-4 of these types every year.

Looks like united got thiago

True but they all have billionaire owners that dont mind spending lots of money whereas we have a tight fisted board and an equally tight fisted manager as well:p.

We have to spend this summer and possibly come Jan, we still are short of a few world class players. But at least getting Higuain means that we are making a step forward in the right direction and if he does well at Arsenal, i cant see why we cant compete for trophies again.

somebody just posted this on facebook,Manchester United have booked a medical at bridgewater hospital, lets hope its not for phil neville

Or Wellbecks brother.

On a more serious note, I honestly hope we sign at least 2 class players this summer, we are really lacking in some areas and can't honestly expect to challenge for europe without strengthening :/

Doubt thats the case, remember he went Bolton as well and did well. Clarke and Anelka have the Chelsea conncetion too..

This is Joes first step in opening all them doors :p

his next step was straight out the door..he has gone on holiday by the look of it

what strange timing when you are the best director of football in the country and all transfers go through you?!

Because we've had a top scoring striker before, its not the key to a title winning team. We had a final against Stoke and fluffed it, a manager who can't make a substitution under pressure to save his life, a menatality in the team for lazyness and stupidity. Favouring players like Walcott who work hard for a maximum of 5 minutes a game, which was extended to around 13 minutes a game when he was looking for a contract, and reduced to around 12 seconds a game once that contract was signed.

There are MANY things that are preventing us really challenging for titles, and all those problems start with Wenger.

RVP scored less for Utd last season and one a title, the year before he scored more with us and won nothing.

I don't see how buying Higuain gets us closer to winning or challenging for the league or champs league. If we bought maybe 3 other players who Wenger actually dropped certain other players for(walcott, Sagna mostly) who brought a winning mentality with them and managed a season without Wenger destroying them.... maybe. Even then I would put money on Wenger making poor team choices like resting the wrong players before the important games against the top four, pushing certain players too hard till they get injured, and throwing games away by taking off our most effective players in a given game for the worst player possible off the bench.

We need a striker who won't miss 90% of his shots. If we get Higuain we achieve that and also for once send out the message we will pay decent money and wages, which will hopefully be the catalyst to getting at least 1 more big name in.
