I saw Benteke miss more sitters than I did him score goals. Often in matches he was pretty missing, too. But it can also be put down to the Villa side overall just being naff.

He did show good moments and he scored a fair few quality goals and kept Villa up, but the prices that Villa fans seem to want are a bit OTT, especially as he arrived for £7million and people are talking of more than tripling that after one decent season.

Everton? Bigger?

They're not even the biggest club in their home town.

Let's see their European Cup!

Really?

Where do you believe Villa will, or should, finish next season if you hold onto Benteke?

Looks like this Barry rumour is growing. I don't see why we want to add another aging midfielder to our ranks. Maybe a few years ago but it doesnt make much sense now.

After all this talk of WARCHEST we are going to end up with some french u20 striker and Barry

Sandy, how much do you think Rooney is worth out of interest?

I think he's a very very good player - I'd prefer to see him in a deeper role as I don't think he's a natural goalscorer, I think he could be a deeper lying playmaker - I don't think he's risen to the level everyone hoped and thought, but taking into account his age etc, I'd suggest £25-30m, but it's nigh on impossible to accurately value anyone as you have to have a benchmark and then identify if the club selling wants to.

I'd say Everton and Villa are pretty much on par size wise... on just about every aspect.
Honours are very similar. Fan base about the same. Not much in it to be honest.

Benteke for £20m is crazy talk to any sane man. But the word sane gets used very rarely when discussing premier league transfers.

Of course a striker misses chances. 19 in his debut EPL season is very impressive.

IF he stayed, I think we could aim for perhaps for 10th-13th - without him, depends on who comes in obviously.

If he goes to Chelsea, would nice to think Lukaku could be involved in the deal.

Oh yeah they do, but I saw Benteke miss more sitters than I've had hot dinners though.

Why would Chelsea include Lukaku in a deal for a striker that is arguably inferior to him?

I love how Villa fans think he's worth 25-30 million because he had a decent debut season :D

You think Villa would let him go for much less than that? We got anything up to £19.5m for Carroll (if you into account add-ons and his loan fee), why on earth would Villa demand anything less than £25m? They wouldn't be forced into selling anyway but this new TV deal has only made them less likely to lower their demands.

Benteke's shown himself to be a very good player and anybody wanting to sign him will have to pay a premium price. Whether that price represents value to the buying club, only they can decide - it depends on how much they specifically want him.
Agreed.

Liverpool or Spurs for that kind of price and he's good business.

I don't understand the Liverpool link. Look at all the forward players we've signed under Rodgers and the ones we're seriously looking at - they're all versatile players with good movement and the ability to interchange positions. Where does a Benteke fit into our side?

Baz - at last a voice of sense.
