Hopefully Gervinho will be going somewhere, at least he has been linked with moves to a few different clubs now so perhaps there's a bit of substance to the transfer rumours.
 
I think Gervinho will be gone, at the very least out on loan. We have already got rid of lots of deadwood, which is fantastic. We have no big players wanting to leave, and we are linked with some pretty decent players/signings.
I'd say this could be one of our best transfer seasons in many years!

Realistically everyone would moan about paying £25m for him, unless he gets to the end of the next season with 20+ league goals, in which case it'll be lauded as a bargain.

Not me, hes good but hes only had one good season so far. If he can get another season and scores 20+ goals then perhaps he could be worth that much but at the moment, i think anyone paying £25mill for him would be silly to do so. Perhaps City or Chelsea would, i heard City are on the prowl for another striker according to Pellegrini's earlier interview on SSN.

Wouldnt mind seeing him at Arsenal if we could get him on the cheap ie £15mill max.

Given we haven't heard anything new, we can speculate that nothing much has changed.

The theory at the moment is that the release payment would have to be made by Thiago rather than the buying club. So if we were to pay for it, we'd have to give Thiago the €18m, which he would use to buy his contract out. The sticking point would be that the payment to Thiago could be classed as income, and would be taxed at the higher rate (something like 52%). This would mean that we'd have to actually pay Thiago €37.5m so that there's €18m left after the taxman gets his enormous cut. So the holdup could be that we're looking for ways to reduce the amount of tax we'd have to pay.

Alternatively, it may just be that Thiago is unable to make up his mind about where he wants to play. The only people who know for sure are keeping it very close to their chests.
 
Strootman close to Roma. Fee between €17M and €20M and €2.5M to the player. Not sure why he would chose Roma over man United though.

Also, Jedvaj has completed a medical and should become a Roma player soon. Fee is rumored to be around €5M.
 
Between arguing over how much Benteke's worth and pointless speculation regarding Arsenal and players they'll never sign god this has been a boring thread the last couple of days :p
 
A few reports claiming Suso's off to Almeria on a season long loan which would make sense. The signing of Coutinho limited the amount of chances he got in the 2nd half of last season and with Alberto coming in this summer he wasn't going to get a look in. Providing he gets regular football there then it'll only be a good thing and he'll come back a better player.

Considering how it normally goes its been a good summer. We normally get some promising french kid, (tick) then sell our best player or players...

At least year we have just signed a promising french kid and sold our unwanted goods.

Its an improvement...not much but its the right direction lol

Maybe we just weren't in for strootman properly due to other targets or maybe roma could offer him guaranteed firsr team football etc
