*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

the part where you had to jump across a gap using platforms was just dire. and nearly impossible. thankfully my mate bought it so i could have a damn good laugh at him :D

It will be interesting to see how effective the anti-piracy measures for the PS4 are, wonder how long it will take before people are burning images and playing them offline.

The PS3 seemed to have been fairly successful until the "keys" were leaked and it became apparent these keys stayed the same and weren't random lol. Randomise these and I'd bet the ps4 is a pita.

id give it a year to 18 months, BUT with the vast majority of games having online elements people will be missing out on a lot of the social side of it. but i guess if your stuck somewhere with no internet that doesnt matter.

to be honest i bet console piracy for the ps4 and xbone will be lower than previous generations that have had it due to the online elements of the games.

Well considering that the only reason the PS3 got hacked was due to them making a schoolboy error with using the same key over and over, and since they solved that, it's been good I imagine it will be a while.

True, the online element will be epic. I can see this saving me a lot of money down the pub. :)

Any idea if spit-screen will be an option in most major FPS titles?

not a clue really, big titles maybe not but i wouldn't be surprised for stuff on psn+ having it, old games being ported over. all depends on the devs and if they feel there's a market for it. after all they will want to try and have a strong online multiplayer element to sell more copies rather than having split screen for people to share.

Speaking about online. It's been confirmed right that the ps4/x1 can support more players? Like PC BF3 64 player games?

technically the ps3 could, its down to weather the devs and publishers pony up for servers that can hold that amount of players or not.

one thing id hope they do this time around is allow people to use their own servers like pc gamers do. so a clan can hire a dedicated server which they control. its doable its just the issue of allowing the games to do that.

nice one. hope it's not laggy

I've used Gaikai and didn't have any lag issues with that, but I suspect it would just come down to the reliability of the connection wherever you are, haven't used remote play outside the house because only original PS games and a handful of other titles support it, so really happy it'll work with every PS4 game

Seriously doubt it will be many, which is disappointing because I still play split-screen but I'm likely in the minority

256 players :p

ps3ud0

it didnt really because all those players were split into different battles which put together were part of a larger scene.

but player 1 couldnt actually get to player 256 because they were completely seperate and they were just playing at the same time.

the biggest true online multiplayer game i can think of has 40 and that was resistance, yet resistance 3 only had 16 online multiplayer, so they have actually decreased the number over time.

maybe a game like minecraft could support such numbers on the ps3? or a basic rpg where it loads constantly as you travel around.

anyway it's dedicated servers which are restricting them from making such numbers possible, you really need the processing power and bandwidth of a dedicated server when you go into high numbers of online multiplayer.

No you weren't. Many a time I've run over to another area of the map where the other players were when my team was being crap.

Little off-topic but it would be great if games that use dedi-servers for online also had p2p built in for when the servers are turned off, don't really see this happening though but I wonder if there's any games already with such a system in place
