Road Cycling Essentials

I've got a pair of Swrve jeans and some Howies Epic Cotton (water resistant) trousers for commuting on the Brompton and 'family' riding. The Swrve jeans are much lighter weight than normal denim, much harder wearing (cycling wears the thighs and bum).

Most importantly, both set of trousers are gusseted so you don't have a massive seam running down your crotch.

I'll see if I can get a cap when I'm next in the shop, or ordering online.

Looking forward to the commute home, wind is in the right direction for once! Going to monster it, hopefully getting some KOMs that I missed yesterday by seconds.

Got the car out of the garage in preparation for Sunday. Was surprised it started considering how little it gets used.

Decided to make the climbing challenge a road trip and drive out to some epic hills instead of doing it all locally. Brecon Beacons for Sunday and take it the Black Mountains + Gospel pass. Thinking Crowcombe Combe mid week and going to Google for some hills for later in the week :)

God its irritating that you need Strava Premium to download GPXs. $6/month!

Anyone know a decent gpx editor so I can make my own?

Mountain bike or road bike this evening... decisions, decisions...

You free next week in the evenings to get some feet in? I'm thinking Belmont over and back up the other is the most effort effective way of getting some altitude without something mental like rake repeats.

Second Time Trial this evening, much more lumpy route, and an extra 3 miles, at 15, got round in 43:57. Bloody hard work, reckon I could have done a bit more in the middle segment as HR really dropped, but pushed extremely hard for the last 3 miles, and had not a lot left right at the end.

This competitive stuff is a bit addictive :D

Yeah, should be. I'll probably be out Tuesday and Thursday, if that suits? Start about seven? It's staying light till about ten at the moment so plent of time.

Got out for 15 miles on the mountain bike this evening. Got a bit off track and ended up trespassing on farmland and getting barked at by a bunch of angry dogs. Fun times.

The mrs asked whether, when I get my new bike, she can use my current one. She's worried she's putting on weight, so would like to lose some, and would like to try out cycling so she can cycle with me in due course. She's about the same height as me, albeit with longer legs, so the bike should be ok for her. We'll just have to get some flat pedals for her to get started with.

Has anyone used the Cycle to work scheme to purchase a bike from Canyon? I fancy getting the Roadlite AL 6.0

My company have offered to set up a scheme if i want to purchase a bike with it.

It will be my first Road bike, so I'm also a little concerned with sizing but think a Large (58) should be ok. I'm 6'2'', think my inside leg measurement is between 33" and 34". I'm sure i've come across a sizing calculator on there website in the past, but cant find it at the minute.
