Bioshock 3 - Infinite

I just finished this. I don't finish games very often these days.

I really enjoyed it. I struggled to follow the story but it all came together, and it's one of the few times where I've been kind of blown away by the story in a game. In fact, maybe the only time. A fantastic story, I loved it.

Guys, recently I have been having crashes when playing Bioshock Infinite for 10-15mins, something to do with D3D11 crashing or being removed?
any help would be appreciated :)

Just started playing through this again, this time on 1999 mode and going for the "Scavenger Hunt" achievement for extra fun... Haven't got too far yet, just reached Monument Island, but my impressions so far:

- It's definitely more difficult; you pay for your mistakes much more, and getting headshots on enemies and not rushing in is much more important

- The strange abundance of food items that seemed totally unnecessary on Hard are suddenly actually needed, a few times I've found I need to be careful not to eat things if I'm at full health so I can backtrack through areas later when I need to heal up

Looking forward to seeing how it progresses

Thats the main difference with 1999 mode and why you pretty much have to play through the game first using one of the lower difficulty settings as its not hard in itself but you need to think about every step you take, every item you use in the context of whats coming next or you end up dead.

UK's having a bit of a heat wave - have you checked your GPU temps aren't an issue?

Yeah I think thats what it was, sometimes it reached low 70s, I have since opened my side panel and put a 140mm fan to directly blow air into the GPU, temps are mid 60s when gaming :D

70's is nothing for your GPU - the issue is far more likely to be your overclock. 7950 @ 1100/1400 is a stretch.

You don't need that clock to play bioshock flawlessly anyway. default clocks could play it pretty much maxed.

Seems to be the norm with most people achieving more on the memory?

what are you confused about? ~70 degrees when in session is nothing to worry about.

also there is no "norm" on overclocks - each card and system is its own. it is FAR more logical to experiment with dropping your clocks then setting up a new fan. particularly on this game.

I know that ~70C is acceptable for a GPU but I like to keep mines in the 60s when possible.

What "confused" was that you stated 1100/1400 was pushing it for a HD7950 and I was merely making that most people achieve this kind of overclocks but with higher memory OC.

Its fine now anyway so dont really want to get things complicated.

With respect you obviously had decided that the temperature was THE issue as your response "Yeah I think thats what it was, sometimes it reached low 70s," indicates.

a temperature of the low 70's is standard.

No they don't and even it your clocks were normal for the forum they wouldn't be necessarily in your case as my response you quoted implies. There are a number of people who have been fortunate with their cards and particular cooling solutions.

I'm glad you say it's working for you now but in cases like this it is far better to encourage forum members to experiment with their over clock (which is done in seconds and more logical given how far you have pushed your card) rather then giving people the impression that setting up new fans is the most likely solution.

GMG currently have a 30% code that can be used on the Bioshock season pass, making it £11.19. Don't think its been that low before?

Just finished this game.

Mind=blown :eek:

Still dont understand some of it....

Someone explain the end to me in a spoiler tag as to not spoil it for others?

What I don't understand is what there is to NOT understand, assuming you paid attention everything is explained quite well either in the cinematics or audio logs.

I don't know about anyone else, but I sometimes find game stories hard to follow. I tend to rush games a little, for fear of losing interest and not finishing it. I did follow the story in this game, and it made sense as I watched it, but I did need to read the following to fully understand everything:

I think a game or film like this is intentionally designed so that some (read:not all) people will understand the entire plot and/or ending in its entirety immediately after seeing/playing it... and they've achieved it very well here

If you get it it's supposed to make you think "Ahh, yeah that's neat that is" and simply appreciate the intricacies of how it all came together

If you don't get it it's supposed to make you think about it a lot and want to know more and ask people, discuss it with them, read explanations and dissections of the plot on the internet.. Or even play through it again with your new-found perspective (I highly reccomend this, it's quite surprising)

Both situations are satisfying in their own way - and it wouldn't be possible to make it much harder or easier to understand without making it frustrating for one type or viewer/player or the other...
