Bioshock 3 - Infinite

I don't know about anyone else, but I sometimes find game stories hard to follow. I tend to rush games a little, for fear of losing interest and not finishing it. I did follow the story in this game, and it made sense as I watched it, but I did need to read the following to fully understand everything:

SPOILERS - http://venturebeat.com/2013/04/19/understanding-bioshock-infinites-ending-ending-explanation/

Eh, not sure I agree with all of that.

I would've thought Elizabeth's ability to open tears came from the fact part of her is in an alternate universe, I don't recall in the game anywhere about Lutuece giving her the power

Yeah, I think people confuse that Lutuece helped build a machine to boost/harness the power in Liz, with actually giving her the power.

Definitely, I mean she clearly didn't want to be stuck in that tower so why would she have not tried to enter and stay in one of the tears.

Quite looking forward to the DLC, playing an alternate booker could be awesome if they do that

Started 1999 mode and still loving it.

for a start, having completed the plot makes
the beginning boat ride and particularly the first needlepoint in the lighthouse
that much more significant.

Wait until you get to the first few audio logs from Comstock and arrive at Battleship Bay for the first time... In-your-face much?

Just finished the game myself today, never played bioshock 1 or 2, but really enjoyed the story, just has a way of pulling you in, the game also looked stunning, glad I didnt miss/ignore (could have been easy done from not playing the previous 2)

what are you confused about? ~70 degrees when in session is nothing to worry about.

also there is no "norm" on overclocks - each card and system is its own. it is FAR more logical to experiment with dropping your clocks then setting up a new fan. particularly on this game.

yea, if you've built your rig properly it should still be running cool in this weather, mine is still running cold; even with the fans only on setting 1.

it's never seen a warm temperature, even on max stress Prime, i've never seen it go above 65, BIOSHOCK wont even tickle it; no game will.

I must admit this hasn't sucked me in yet (first few hours) the movement feels a bit mechanic. The mouse view is just too coupled and doesn't really convey natural movement. More to come though!

Maybe you already have tried this, but if not take the time to set a correct FoV for your screen - made a huge difference to my experience of it early on.

I've picked up this game from the MM as well as the original Bioshock from the Steam sales. Is it worth playing the original Bioshock first or should I start with this one?

I'm still making progress with my 1999 mode + scavenger hunt achievement playthrough... Just got to "Shantytown" so have done a couple of bits I was expecting to be quite difficult...

Finding it reasonably challenging in places, but far from the holy-grail of difficult experiences it was touted as (or maybe I'm better than I thought!)... I think I've died and had to restart at the last checkpoint about 3 times so far. Trying as hard as I can to get maximum loot especially cash - turns out there are a few places where triggering a certain event seems to "reset" some of the containers and allow you to collect some extra loot...

Having the right gear equipped seems to help immesurably, so I think it's worth a small amount of playing the system if you find a checkpoint near a piece of gear reloading a few times until you get something good... (Especially because I seem to find a lot of the same type of gear sometimes, like all hats, which is annoying)... Also I've found switching your gear depending on the situation is much more necessary and effective than on normal mode (i.e. you know you're going into a fight with skylines, so equip the gear that gives you various bonuses for being on skylines)...

Freelook with mouse view is very badly broken with default settings for many people including myself - somewhere earlier in the thread I posted some details on how to fix it so it feels natural and proper.

I didn't like the mouse either and I played through Bioshock 1 & 2 using M&K. However switched to 360 controller and it felt a lot better. I don't ever play controller for 1st person games but it felt much better here.

These comments are quite surprising to me... I also played the first two games with M&K and didn't think this one was any different  I guess it was a while since I last played Bioshock 2 but I'm still not sure quite what you guys are on about..... Perhaps I'll try the freelook fix just so I can try to see what you mean

Well my 1999 Scavenger Hunt playthrough is getting there... I just got to Comstock House, so those infamously hard fights are out of the way :D

Lady Comstock was actually almost easier than when I played on hard, probably because I knew what to expect... In all 3 encounters I pretty much just stayed somewhere that either the minions would not go, or that they would be easy to pick off if they did, and plinked away at her with the sniper + carbine (both with damage upgrade x 2). Adding my "tunnel vision" (+25% damage when scoped) gear allowed me to whittle her down quite quickly

The Handyman fights so far I got through by exploiting their behaviour with the skyrails - jump on, wait for him to grab the rail, jump off, snipe the heart, jump on again before he manages to smack you :p

In a bit of a jam right now though... just past the first Boy of Silence and used up all my ammo taking out those stupid little minions. I think I'll probably see if I can sneak past the others. Almost there!! :D

Was going to create a new thread but may as well just put it here -

I know I only got the game a few weeks ago, but anyone else stoked for potential DLC that may (or may not as its not been confirmed) be on its way, just came across this http://www.computerandvideogames.com/421238/bioshock-infinite-dev-teases-dlc-reveal-on-july-29/

"BioShock Infinite designer Ken Levine says he's "excited for tomorrow" - July 29 - in what appears to be teaser for an impending DLC announcement."

basically should be a matter of hours before we get any info :), really enjoyed playing the game and really got engrossed in the story, interested in where exactly they could take it.

Yep, I purchased the season pass recently and really looking forward to the DLC. Nice to hear that they're about to announce something, hopefully that will quiet down all the people who keep screaming for news.

Noticed there was a very small update to the game this evening, under the notes it says:

CHANGES INCLUDED IN PATCH 6
Added features necessary to support upcoming DLC.
Fix for issue where the navigation assist / nav aid arrow was not showing the path of jumping from the deck of the barge to the sky-line above when viewing it from the barge after the town lottery.
