Compared to Arsenal I don't see what's wrong with that, our current squad is notably superior. 3/4 top signings for Arsenal could affect that though, but they're dilly-dallying as usual!

Not sure tbh.

Take away Rooney and add no one else and apart from RVP, it doesn't look too far superior. You certainly don't have a Cazorla in the team. And is your midfield overall really that great?

We will add someone of notable quality in place of Rooney though, I'm pretty sure about that, perhaps not a striker through.

I think that, with a good run, Kagawa will comfortably be as good as Cazorla, though he hasn't had a great chance to prove it yet.

I don't want to compare each and every position but we're definitely well ahead in my view.

Win a couple of friendlies and suddenly think you're back with the big boys :p

:D

clubs are already excluded from UEFA competition under FFP:however, so far the exclusions are for unpaid bills and wages. It shows that they (UEFA) are willing to exclude clubs, but like others I'm sceptical they will do so when it comes to a big club being funded by a rich owner, especially PSG, and except for English clubs who we all know will be banned at the first chance UEFA get

Its worth pointing out these clubs would have been banned(mostly if not all) before "ffp" its just coming under the same banner now and isn't really at all what FFP was designed for. There were always rules that meant you could be excluded, most of them based around owing other clubs money, refusing to make a payment, failing to pay players. THe main bulk of the new stuff that comes with FFP isn't what these clubs have been thrown out of european competition for.

We're yet to see someone say "City, you've spent eleventy billion more than you've actually made, you're out of the champs league next year" and ultimately that was what the new rules we regard as FFP were brought in for.

Essentially you could be 10mil in profit for the season but for some reason have arbitrarily refused to pay 2mil you owe as part of payment for a player transfer... you can be excluded from a competition for owing money but it has little to do with the new regulations in FFP.

FFP as most people deem it and what they were brought in for, is the limit of spending more money than the club brings in. IE over a three year period you'll be allowed up to 45mil euro in losses, with that reducing towards something closer to 15mil in a 5-6 years(it was 3-4 years initially but has been extended significantly) and eventually towards not spending more than the club brings in on average. THere is(or was on last check) no list that said if the limit is 45mil and you are 5mil over its a fine, 10mil over a bigger fine, if you're 20mil over you get thrown out of the champs league. They said at least two years ago now, the regulations were written up but the punishments hadn't been decided on yet and were "coming in the near future"..

No where do they really say "do this, get that" making the whole thing, very open to interpretation.

The question is and always has been, with FFP what will they actually do to the people breaking the allowed deficit over the 3 year period... the answer is no one knows, Uefa haven't said anything, none of the big teams have done anything except increases wages and spending as usual, and sponsorship has gone through the roof. Teams like PSG/Monaco are completely ignoring it. Uefa could have 2 years ago said, if you go one penny over the 45mil without a REALLY epic reason why its not your fault, you miss the champs league.

Instead they said yeah, we're being great we're introducing FFP, how will the clubs get punished... errrm, we'll maybe figure that out later, and they still haven't.

I don't know if this has been posted so here it goes.

Manchester United's chief executive Edward Woodward has left the clubs pre season tour early. I would guess something is happening in regards to player transfers.

In Sheffield Wednesday news... Nothing since the signing of Helan :(.

Maybe he just left after realising he left the oven on? :p

I wonder what's happening on the Higuain front, it's been quiet for a while now after it seemed as though everything was virtually wrapped up the other week. Personally I'd prefer rotating Podolski and Giroud up front and buying an actual left winger instead of forcing Poldi there. Think we could do with a right back as well, nobody amazing, just someone defensively sound who can teach Jenkinson, hopefully Sagna will eventually leave after this season.

As far as the Suarez stuff goes I think it's just some bizarre rumour being forced upon us by Sky and the rags, it would be an incredibly uncharacteristic purchase and while he is undoubtedly very good at this ball foot malarkey, he is simply too much of a **** for me to ever want to see him in an Arsenal shirt. Biting, diving, moaning, those teeth, the list goes on, we all know Arsene would never spend the sort of money it would take to get him, and nor should he either in my opinion.

I also don't really see the need for another goalkeeper either. First half of the season our defence was crap, second half they pulled their finger out and the whole back line and keeper performed well for months. Szczesny is still very young and while I don't think he's the next Oliver Kahn he's probably going to mature into a fairly reliable stopper. Certainly no reason for people (Yas) to get all foamy mouthed about us "missing out" on Cesar, who I doubt we were even in for to begin with.

i heard RM want 37m for Higuain lol we might as well get surez for that kind of money as he is less of a risk and a proven player in the EPL

blimey he must be moving up in the world. it's a daily mirror article.

United want Welsh forward at Old Trafford but Spurs unwilling to sell.

Manchester United are ready to send out a statement to the rest of the Premier League by bidding £60m for Tottenham’s Gareth Bale, claims the Daily Mirror.

The Red Devils reportedly want the Welshman, 24, to be the first major signing under new boss David Moyes, in a bid to give the club a boost and offset the negative publicity that will be caused by Wayne Rooney’s likely departure to Chelsea.

However, Spurs are desperate not to lose last season’s triple player of the year, who scored 21 Premier League goals in a fabulous season for the north London outfit.

A move for Bale would smash United’s existing transfer record of £30.8m – paid to Tottenham for Dimitar Berbatov – but £60m still seems an unrealistic valuation of the forward, particularly given Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to pay closer to £80 for the former Southampton man.

less of a risk?

If Arsenal do buy Suarez then they need a clause in his contract saying that if he does anything utterly stupid, like he's prone to doing, then they can return him for a full refund. Kinda like how you can return electrical good stating "not fit for purpose" :p

Should buy him online and use dsr, Disgusting suarez regulations.

When did bale become a forward? Midfielder or defender maybe.

Maybe when he scored 26 goals last season and was Spurs' most attacking threat by a mile?

No doubt he started out as a defender and can still do a job there, but in recent seasons he's been played further and further forward, except when Spurs have been short at the back.
