I'm now thinking we should offer Rooney and £30 million for Bale.

Spurs would kill for a decent striker.

lol..banter banter

Spurs should just get that Benteke in for 22mil and be done with it. He could turn out to be a complete demon, 22 years old and scored 20 odd goals....blazing! Scores left right and centre for the national side as well..

You could argue though that Chelsea, City and so on don't need to make any huge signings.

If we bring in Jovetic and Negredo to add to Navas and Fernandinho we have fixed the major flaws in our team in my opinion.

Chelsea the same from what I can see have done as well.

Both teams also bringing in a new manager that by all accounts, well definitely in Mourinho will be an improvement on the previous one. With the squads that both teams already have big name signings just aren't needed and its just a matter of the new manager getting more out of the current players than replacing them.

The details of the Negredo deal are apparently...

Jovetic deal is also close according to Di Marzio, matter of Jovetic's agent finalizing the deal.

You lot need another striker and it seems to be Jovetic, who is highly rated. Plus you have made some big signings as you pointed out already...what i was saying is that so far Arsenal havent signed anyone of note.

is this any more than rumour and conjecture?

I think this all comes back to Perez and the preposterous, delusional arrogance around Real. Perez has publicly made this a vendetta against Higuain, simply because Higuain has made it know that he would like to leave - the outrage, how dare a player want to leave Madrid! Perez has stated that Higuain must apologise publicly for asking to leave, and be grateful that he is Madrid player no matter how much playing time he gets.

The way Real Madrid is run is a joke, we all know it. The presidents and executive management always regard themselves as the most important people at the club, which in turn they regard as the most important in the world. I doubt they would be doing this if PSG and Monaco weren't preventing Real from just doing as they like and rail-roading other clubs into selling their best players for knock down prices.

If Real had been able to buy Cavani at the price they wanted, Higuain would be an Arsenal player already, but the only big star possibilities remaining are Rooney and Suarez (assuming Bale is a non starter this season.) Perez needs to save face now, by making sure that Higuain bows and Real get a win in the transfer market.

Pretty much what im thinking, a lot of this Higuain saga is probably to do with Real and the way they act in the transfer window...always tapping up players ie Ronaldo, Modric and now Bale and/or Suarez.

Like i said a few posts back, Real are utter ****s in the transfer window..Perez is possibly the biggest knobber out there running a football club. From what i have read, again no idea if its true or not is that a few weeks back Higuain's father and brother were both saying that Higuain is more or less an Arsenal player. But something happened after Ancelotti got made manager, perhaps he convinced Higuain to stay or something but i dont think thats necessarily true as rumours are now flying around that Napoli are interested in him.

Anyhow lets see what happens when Wenger and co get back from their far east tour. If we do not make any big name signings by the end of the transfer window then the people or person who deals with transfers needs to hung and shot repeatedly outside the Emirates along with Wenger and Gazidis:p.

They would rather have Bale I would imagine. He is younger than Rooney and the attitude / potential for growth is 10x better by all accounts. If they can hold onto him this season and he performs like last year which looks likely (from seeing him spank in a goal pre season) they can command a much higher fee than this season.

There are also plenty of strikers about that Spurs could buy and keep Bale.

“The competition in Europe is very hard at the moment,” Wenger told reporters.

“There’s a lot of money and not many players. We work hard but we are not close to signing anybody.”

Wenger quote.

You have a source for that quote??. But it does seem to be right in that Arsenal are nowhere close to signing anyone of note so far but im not going to freak out just yet...the transfer window still has over a month to go before it closes:p...ill start freaking out when its the last day and we sign Squillaci's brother. Gervinho's cousin and Santos mother:p

Its been picked up by a few less than reputable rags but it does seem to be a quote from Wenger as opposed to complete speculation with absolutely no reason.

Its ok buddy, United seem to be doing the same. Lets go for targets we have a popsicles chance in hell of signing then act all surprised when they fail.

Yeah, but you're comparing him to Welbeck.

Someone not suitable for anyone aiming above mid-table.

I only mentioned the dreadful Wellbeck because he has a comparable strike rate at Internationel level to Benteke, BUT Benteke is a far better player.

IF Man United, for instance, valued Wellbeck at say £10m, in the event of anyone fancying taking a punt on the dreadful striker, Benteke would be justifiably in the £25m bracket
