Most impractical car for £10000?

Cheers for the input guys. :)

Just to clarify - by running costs i meant MPG and usual stuff at a reasonable price. NOT paying £1000 fpr a clutch or shock absorbers etc. Also realised insurance could be an issue - Monaro is 4x what my Focus is for eg.

Monaro - has to be the VXR one as the standard one doesn't look great.

Interesting point on that SL55 though - that is nice!!

Been looking at bike engined kit cars predominantly as they'd all be reasonable. That's the one thing that puts me off the Skyline - looks fantastic and goes well but it's price of parts etc.

If an SL55 goes wrong it will be costly.

Wow, that is really cheap!!

No more so than an SL500, but yeah, very complex cars.

There is one on AT right now with an ABC issue at £6995, and i am not sure it is even worth that, a sign of things to come with them :(

Hows this for impractical

I can see trees falling over in my rear view mirror :D

Spend £700 on a direct access course then get a sports bike.

Pretty sure it was helpimcrap who had a life changing bike accident !

Assuming this is a one off amount of money (savings) I would rule out the things that are going to cost a fortune to run or maintain . Personally Would probably be looking at a cheap track car for the most fun , keep the rest of the money for associated costs

Yeah it was guys. I still have a motorbike license but in my own eyes i can't ride one safely on the road. :(

Cheap track car looks way to go..... still thinking bike engined kit car - 0-60 in 3s? Top speed is 70 in this country anyway... ;)

Having owned one, you tire of them VERY quickly. If I did one again I would get an MX5 based car and spend money on the engine, turbo etc

With a bike engine there is so little weight on the front they are very twitchy, and the bike engines always have some sort of issue.

No doubting tho, with a ZX1400 engine they absolutely rock, Busa isn't bad either!

If you have £3000-4000 then I'd spend that on a 200-220hp turbo/supercharged MK1 MX5.
It will be extremely quick as with a hard top they're about 1000kg.
They fit the criteria of being impractical and fun.

It is no Elise or VXR Monaro, but you really will struggle to have as much fun elsewhere for the money. Get an unmodded decent MX5 and expect to pay £1000-2000.
They also rarely break and when they do cost very little to fix.

few calls for MX5. I'd never even considered this car. Might have to look into that. Think the bike engined kit car might be way to go as i go to car meets every month.... :)

yeah Brera prodrive S

Whats more shocking than the current is the average, it was on a run from london to hereford on the M40 A40, was a fun drive though :D
