I also use mine on my mountain bike. I wouldn't dare have my phone mounted where it would get wet, covered in mud and grit and may also take an impact.

There aren't many Ant+ mobile phones out there though for Cadence/Speed and HR Sensors.

my smart phone gps seems more than accurate.

Not really...

-ANT+ connectivity
-weatherproof
-Easier to mount on a bike
-easier to control with gloves on
-easier to see in sunlight
-less likely to break if you crash or drop it
-temperature sensor
-barometric altitude sensor

for 300 quid i can get a bombproof phone, water, dust, drop etc resistant + 4+ inch screen.

GPS signal is no different to garmin :) jeez, my little brother uses my old s2 with no DATA connection and he gets accurate readings.

easier to mount, control, sunlight etc are all right points but still i feel that this equipment is overpriced :) and why wouldn't it be when the competition is pricing theirs just as high.

When it has been set up right, you shouldnt need to change the angle.
When it has been set up by somebody who doesnt know what they are doing, you may need to tweak it.

The lever that moves the caliper in and out is only there to give you room to remove the wheel. It's not for adjusting the pads when riding.
There is an allen key hole on the top of the caliper to adjust the centering of it. When you have it centered, you can then adjust the cable tension to make sure the pads dont rub (no, pads shouldnt rub when you're riding). You can do this by either making small adjustments with the barrel adjusters or larger adjustments by unbolting the cable from the caliper to take out some slack or loosen it off a little.

He's got mechanical discs, not rim callipers.

Some rubbing can be expected on mechanical disc brakes, especially as one side is actually fixed and only the pad on the other side moves. There doesn't have to be rub, but its hard to avoid.

Depends what your requirement for accurate is; over a lap of Richmond Park smartphone users are gifted 5-20s over garmin users. I want my gps to be accurate and consistent. Phone GPS aren't.

Thanks, not weighed it yet....will do though and come back, expect it to be sub 7kg at least? Bar, seat post, stem and pedals (will probably change them eventually) arent the lightest but good for the price point.

I didnt do the bar tape, but tbh i've done 2 other bikes recently and they pretty much look the same as this.
The Zipp stuff seems like good stuff to use, it has a texture like a tennis racket grip and is slightly flexi unlike the Fizik stuff i used on my Boardman.

you can get heart rate.
strava calculates it's own power readings anyway.

Cadence is it really important? you can get that on a £20 cycle computer anyway

Strava power estimates are wildly inaccurate (you also cant see it in real-time).
And your going to use a phone and a cheap computer together just to avoid buying a garmin?

There is a reason why around 80% of cyclists you see with computers are using garmins.
