It's the PC game on PC :p

IE its just an updated gfx driver if you like, that allows the old PC port to run on modern systems and modern resolutions. The backdrops look the same as ever but the 3d fights look a little better due to the improved resolution.

With some half hearted achievements thrown in...

I still bought it though... :eek:

Tempted to buy this but I've already spent too much on games since the summer sale started. At least this isn't discounted right now, it can wait :).
 
Ah the memories, may sound silly but I think it looks better in lower res, more pixelated, little rougher round the edges on the PS. The squeeky clean, crisp lines of the PC really shows how old the graphics are now.

Still remember getting the Bahamut summons and thinking omg, this is the best graphics ever!
 
I couldnt resist this on steam, my favourite game of all time!

I can still remember my PS1 sitting under the CRT TV and it was the first thing i put on when i got home. I wish they would update the game graphics to be more modern for todays hardware but only if they leave the game as is, no tinkering just better GFX

even so its still awsome as is and iam looking forward to it all over again.

It depends I think.

Im one of the person that absolutely loves ff7 to death.
I remember when my parents bought the game for me on ps1 for me birthday and I actually found a game i could play for months because it has depth and a good story.

So I'm a bit biased towards this game as a lot of other people cause it touched them in some way.

Some people around me heard me about this game on TS and actually asked for the game and the 17 gig Tifa's mod torrent, but never played this game. i'm not sure if you can appreciate this game fir what it is if you never played the original, because even with the mods etc it still looks like a ps1 game ( in the days it looked badass, but I can't help meself thinking that in some parts it looks outdated even after the modifications). If you are a gamer and can look trough that this is one of the most enjoyable and quite hard games in some parts.

If you can't I guess this aint the game for you at this time. If you can this is an absolute gem. There is a reason why ****loads of people ask for a remake on the current/next gen consoles/pc. For some reason this game touched people.

I played it back on the PS1 but haven't played it in years now, definitely buying the game (just not decided when yet), was just wondering about the mods. I guess most of them are just improving the textures then? Might as well download it :)

Faaaaaaaaaaaaaantastic news! I might pay the £9.99 but see if it drops like others said on here. I originally paid £4.99 for the PC version 2nd hand (sold it 10 years later for £35 lol).

On the original PC game, I used a Sega Megadrive joypad with the usual d-pad, ABC and XYZ buttons, modified to take USB on a PC. Will this work on the new Steam version? It calibrates fine in Windows' gaming option and was plug-and-play. Windows 8 now, not Windows 95 :-)

Thanks! I went for it :-) Linked it with my Paypal as I already had funds in there. Oh boy, does it bring back memories or what?! 2001 was when I last played it. Today, I got as far as the 1st boss, crab thing with a laser tail before the reactor blows up and now I'm in Midgar and saw Aeris for the first time but she ran off because I said the wrong thing to her lol.

P.S. it works 100% with my Sega Megadrive joypad.
