Wait... The Orange Box lost?! Do my eyes deceive me?

Also, can I preemptively throw in my vote for The Last of Us regardless of what it's paired against? :p

Yeah it is a fairly sizeable elephant. Good call I reckon.

Nice list! Shame no Wii games or Jrpgs in there but hey-ho.

I still can't believe Xenoblade lost :( really is a shame all the JRPGs dropped out, would have at least thought Ni no Kuni would make it, but oh well :p

Could really have done with Tales of Vesperia being in the list from the start as that's one of the best I've played in recent years.

How the hell did the terrible Heavy Rain beat The Orange Box? (or several others to get this far) What is wrong with you people?!

Voting Mass Effect 2 because it's a modern classic, and unlike Heavy Rain, is actually good.

I VERY nearly bought that yesterday. I went with the complete GTA 4 collection though ready for GTA 5.

Today its an incredibly tough choice but I'll go with Heavy Rain. Can't believe you guys haven't voted yet ;).

Also, how did The Last of Us get through when it's only been out 6 weeks and this poll has been running for months and months?!

We added new games that were released since the competition began in round 4 I believe. Last of Us as explained in today's post was at the start of Round 6 as we had odd numbers and it would have been worse to leave out a high critically rated game completely.

So there's something wrong with us because we don't agree with your views? :p

You need to do it soon! Also if you see it going for less than £30 then that's even more of a reason :p Oh I haven't voted yet? Must have missed the next selection ;)

Some newer games like Tomb Raider and the likes were added later into the competition too as they're strong contenders.

Also, Mass Effect 2.

Mass Effect 2 for me today.

I'd have gone with Orange Box over Heavy Rain, but I'm ok with seeing it gone at this stage as well, because this is a vote to find the best game of this generation, and Orange Box is a compilation, that's just a fact. Still, my vote would have been Orange Box because I'd have gone with HL2 or Portal on their own over Heavy Rain.

I think we all should accept at this point that maybe 3 or 4 of us (at best) are going to get to see our actual favourite game win this thing :p.

Because the story is bad, the plot holes are gaping, the voice acting awful, the sound editing amateurish, the controls over done, the characters boring, the interaction inconsistent.

At least it looked good.

I'm just baffled RDR is still in and GTA4 is out. GTA4 is just better in every way. RDR's stories and characters (outside of the first hour and last hour) were nowhere near the quality of GTA4's. The world is more detailed and better realised, the multiplayer was better.

I think at this point I'm backing Fallout 3 to win :D

Here's a question then of the final 12 how many has everyone played?

I've played 11. The only one I've yet to play is The Last of Us.

I think in comparison GTA4 had several points of contention. The phone/dates, the slightly fuzzy graphics, the lack of humor. Also GTA was very much a revision of an idea, wheres Red Dead's Western hadn't really been done before, well not on that scale at least :).

That may be, but some of us still enjoyed it despite any glaring faults it has :p don't see how that means there's something wrong with us.

For me it'd be between Mass Effect 2 and The Last of Us (maybe Fallout 3, but I enjoyed that a lot more on PC).

I've played all 12, but only own 11 (didn't enjoy Far Cry 3 enough to buy it).
