Royal Baby soon to put in an appearance

The OP in this thread is in relation to Kate having a child, wishing her good luck and asking about names. It doesn't mention anything about the head of state.

Try reading the thread title. ;)

A thread about a "Royal baby" is likely to attract more varied attention, join a pro-monarch forum if you want to simply circle jerk each other & encounter no opposing views.

I didn't say it was?
I didn't say you did, I was simply providing examples of the other side of the coin.

Has there ever been a thread in the existence of forums that has stayed fully on topic over 700 posts later?

I'm yet to see an argument from a Royalist which has held up over scrutiny. They say they bring in money, we've countered that's a greatly exaggerated claim. They say it's a tradition, so our gollywogs on the side of jam jars.

Every claim they've been made has been countered with a logical argument and now they're resorting to saying we're either jealous or bitter or just angry at a 2 year old.

I am angry even if everyone else on the republican side isn't but the point is that I'm angry because of the situation, I'm not angry in general and now just using this as a target.

Not a single person that has said anything in support of the monarchy in the 8 or 9 pages or so I've read in this thread has seemed particularly intelligent, most the opposite.

This is on topic. I've lost count of how often I've heard 'our future King'.

You can't disambiguate the two just because the Royalist argument is wafer thin and getting a good kicking ;)

This.

I don't see why anyone is persisting with these tired worn out arguments that have been shown to be outdated.

My favourite was the guy that compared this baby to Tamara Ecclestone and then went on about his kids are as good as the royals.

But no, it's us republicans who are just being bitter and jealous.

Get of your *&^ and do something with your life. Most people in this thread against the Royals are just jealous, bahh it's not fair.

Seriously, it's all the doom and gloom mongers and lazy gits in this country that are ruining it.

As I said before the world wide media coverage is a real good thing for GB. I have seen interviews with tourists saying it's the most exciting day of their life... sure it's a little crazy, but they take that feeling back with them to their own country and it's only a good thing for us.

I for one are happy for them, not jealous.. a baby is a exciting time (maybe the most exciting of your life) and if you are in the spotlight others want to share your joy. Media coverage is over the top, but the MAJORITY of people in the country are happy.. just a few unemployed / min wage teenage plebs with no get up and go on OCUK seem uphappy, sorry if that's strong words.

ps: if you want fair go live in a Communist state, but even in mother Russia success is rewarded with corruption and the government / police stealing your business. In China fair means poverty for nearly all. Count your blessings, we live in a fine country which I am proud of. We have our problems, but compared with many (even within the EU), we are OK. Some people will never be happy though... they want everything for nothing. These kind of people annoy me and the others that love GB, it really is a great place to be a member of.

pps: and how on earth we got the 'Scottish independence' debate in here I'll never know... ffs

I have a varied life of up and downs, good and bad times have passed, i am certainly not a lazy dosser as some seem to make out on here, (i do work very hard) but sometimes no matter how hard you work in this country that is never enough for some.
My point being i just don't think we need a royal family in this modern age, that is my personal view, being from the north may have something to do with it, i don't know.

No mate, if you don't love the Royal Family then you must be a stay at home bum whinging that you need more benefits because your Sky package doesn't have enough movies channels and the 6 packs of rollups you go through a week just don't hit the spot any more.

Why don't you stop being jealous of our super relevant majesties and get a job.

That's how you definitely are mate because you didn't love 'the people's princess'.

I tend to forget how much older the average age is on this forum is & wrongly assume everybody is my age (mid to late 20's).

Can I just ask how many people on here supporting the monarchy are religious?

And not just like have a faith but a proper church goer and all sorts.

I don't particularly support the monarchy, but I'm not against it either. I don't really care either way, but I don't think there's any real reason to get rid of them, they bring in lots of money due to tourism, they don't have any real power now and it's mainly just a traditional thing, which I don't have a problem with at all. I'm not religious at all by the way, actually I would say I'm anti-religion.
