Spurs have left it so long to get a striker that the fans are getting very excited about a very overpriced Soldado.

he's what we need. if we set up with an attacking/creative pairing of bale and chadli, all we need is a finisher and soldado fits the bill. overpriced compared to who?

To be fair any striker that Spurs get linked with he becomes the saviour, it's like Leandro Damiao all over again yet most people have never seen him play :p

Soldado seems a very good goal scorer but it's strange no one has made an offer for him before. He's 28 now so will need to settle in quickly.

He doesn't want to play for us anymore, he did exactly the same thing with his 1st european club Groningen when moving to Ajax. Those people thinking he will go all nicey nice and stick with us for another year are deluding themselves.

What's his other option? If we refuse to sell, he can either do that or sit on the bench/sulk for a year, after which CL clubs won't exactly be banging the door down to sign him anyway.

Probably be a gob****e and take us to court like he did his old club.

He lost the case, and only left because Ajax improved their offer!

Yeah I read the offer wasn't that much greater and by the time you do that all relations would break down with the club and I imagine leaving it as the only option. I guess you could still play him after, would be rather funny

It's just another example of him throwing his toys out the pram though. As said, I'd take the money and run personally - would love to see us ruin Spurs' bid for Soldado!

Front two of Sturridge and Soldado, with Coutinho, Sterling, Gerrard and Lucas in midfield could be beautiful! Some sort of 4-2-2-2 Brazilian formation ;)

Ajax improved their offer same day the case was thrown out the courts aswell apparently.

I can easily see this mess going that way, especially with this mythically clause being interperated by us one way and his agent/him the other way. I expect we would be able to drag Arsenal into it too, seeing as they are clearly privy to one of our players contract clauses with their 40 mill and a pound bid.

Didn't we get done for something similar with Christian Zeige?

If he asks for a transfer and doesn't get one, you think it will stop there? You think Suarez would go "fair play" and get on with it. Not a hope in hell. I don't think it would even be as nice an amicable as the Tevez situation :D. His price will only then come down if by some miracle you manage to keep him for 2 more years.

If a player really want's to go is there any point in keeping them.

Sadly players have far too much power to get what they want.

So, whats the alternative? Roll over and let the player go for way less than his market value, particularly to a direct rival? No chance, at least this stance puts the balls firmly in his court.

He can either get on with it and play to his contract, accepting that nobody met his market value or he can act up and possibly find himself out of the team in a world cup year. This might lower his value long term, but Id rather play it that way than yield to "player power".

We've reject Arsenals offer, if they are waiting on him submit a transfer request what will that acheive? We're going to reject it regardless. Either Arsenal offer what we want or he stays, moans a lot and does something drastic, which will probably not acheive anything except to show Arsenal what he will do next year if he they fail to get 4th/CL football or RM decide they want him.

From what i understand if he submits a request he loses all the rights to his bonus money etc which is why we will of said submit one or shut up

You will lose value if you keep him for another season. Either arsenal gvie you 40m for him today or 30m next year. Your call

I'd sell him to RM next year personally, and you lot desperately need a big name signing. Who else you going to get? Either you give us the 55million or you end up with unknown fenchman 03 or Darren Bent.

Say we do keep him for the year, get into the CL you lot don't, you think he will want to move then? IMO, we hold all the cards.

I know it's Liverpool and I should probably mock and laugh but it's really ****ing me off how he is treating the club :/

The ball is really on liverpool's court. Real Madrid do not look interested in Suarez at the moment and only Arsenal are after him.

In 1 years time he will go for 30m and you will lose 10m from arsenal's estimated value of him.

You are not going to sell him for 55m to anyone, including RM. That is too much for a player with lots of baggage and a player who in the EPL cant play for 6 games.

I threw in a cheeky edit: Say we do keep him for the year, get into the CL you lot don't, you think he will want to move then?

That's the other reason I don't think Liverpool want to sell to Arsenal, they are the only realistic club in the top 4 that they have a hope in hell of catching. Selling their best player to them sends out the wrong message.
