It's also being reported that Sami Khedira is available. Not a massive fan of his but he's also a lot better than many of the midfielders we have. Don't think he'd cost the earth either.

There must be loads of quality midfielders out there because everyone else seems to unearth midfield talent pretty easily. Mata, Cazorla and Coutinho. In fact, how far down the league do you have to go before you find a weaker midfield than Uniteds at the moment.

You've named three players that play roles which we don't really need.

We need a centre midfielder, not a floating wide man play behind the striker do what the hell he wants man.

I wouldn't mind him, he'd make our midfield a bit more formidable alongside Carrick.

I wonder what our backup plan will be, Moyes and the board will know that everyone is expecting Fellaini and Baines and they'll also know that Fellaini isn't some sort of superstar player. He's an okay player who turns it on physically now and again, but not much else.

Actually I'm more worried that they won't know this.

Cazorla and Mata would fit the bill perfectly. Certainly Mata. Coutinho not so much but my point was that you don't have to try and buy one of the best players in the world from one of the best clubs when there have got to be good alternatives out there at clubs who will sell. Players for whom a move to United would be an upgrade.

Moyes should know that Fellaini isn't going to cut it, if he doesn't then I don't hold out much hope for him (for the record I'm 100% behind him and will remain so unless things go completely down the pan, which I'm sure they won't).

Perhaps we can still do a deal for Mata using Rooney. Couldn't rule it out. He's not ideal but he's a beast so whatever.

:confused: They operate in the same way Kagawa does. Not in the way a central midfielder does.

United need someone who can start in midfield and drive forward with energy. They've already got Kagawa and arguably Rooney who does the job in behind the striker which Mata and Cazorla do.

Maybe they should go for Wilshere too ;)
 
I have no doubt that Mata would be able to move further back in the midfield, he is a quality player who is comfortable on the ball.
