Well it's just as much fun at Arsenal. We could have had Higuain and Williams in the preseason friendliest this week, instead we are still chasing the unlikely rat boy for the same price. Although I like ratty getting those two in for a cheaper price would have been the better choice.

Still would have had change to pick another unknown injury prone French kid ;)

I'd rather not see us sold again. I like what John Henry's trying to do there, it looks like he wants to build from the ground up, make us financially solid and then successful, which is the right way to go about things.

Plus another sale could just as easily lead to another Hicks and Gillet as a wealthy owner looking to splash the cash.

Our owners have all ready said its lies and they don't plan on selling. I don't see them selling either if so why would they still have plans to try sort out stadium or invest in players at all

We have said we also wouldn't sell to arsenal at all and part of reason is there a rival so if they stand to what they say probably means he can go but it's abroad

Nothing wrong with a transition period, but what signs of transition to something good are there. A manager who goes after a player he can't get... when he could be buying someone useful to help make the team his own?

As I pointed out, he could have sorted out the new manager 6 months ago and be looking for youngsters to buy, sort out quickly and get going with fresh blood in the direction he wants early. Instead he's joined, seems clueless about who he wants, and has put all his attention into one player who is completely uninterested. Sitting around waiting for a miracle doesn't look like transition to me, it looks like at best treading water, realistically getting worse with Scholes gone, Giggs about to start collecting his pension.

Asking for help from Giggs... absolutely nothing wrong with that, though, why not ask Fergie, or another manager. Who says Giggs has the slightest clue how to help him managerially, the point being why in a press conference when being asked about it would you even entertain the premise you have no experience? Why would you say "I have no experience, but Giggs(who has no experience that I need) can tell me where the bathrooms are at some european stadiums I've yet to visit". How is that enticing players to the club through a show of confidence and leadership. It just sounds like a manager out of his depth saying, if you want champs league football.... I hope you like Giggs being in charge because I have no clue what I'm doing. I would never in a million years say that publically in a press conference, I might curl up in a ball and cry in my office begging Giggs to hold me in fear.... but to say that in a press conference is laughable.

An appropriate response would be... Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool, Utd amongst others have played in the champs league, most of those very regularly, most of those teams have won games and 3 of them have won the champions league, I've played them all before, ultimately the champions league is football, nothing more or less, I've been a manager for 10 + years, I have huge experience..... Then he might sound like the manager of the biggest team in England, currently he sounds like the Everton manager.... actually he sounds more like the manager of Grimsby at the moment.

I'd hope you would think the transition period is more just a few months. At the end of the day, he is an Everton manager still.....how do you learn to be manager at one of the biggest clubs in the world overnight?

It's the board that are running around like headless chickens. SA will be loving it as well, this will give his ego a right run for his money. Probably half the reason Moyes got the job, more of a puppet than Jose would be...

I agree that personally Moyes wouldn't have been in my top 10 picks for a manager of United.

But to imply Fergie picked Moyes to sabotage the club's success, following his retirement, is beyond absurd.

He would have been in my top 10 though, that's not what i'm saying at all.I think he's shown every quality to be a top manager, and he's bloody worked for it as well, he deserves it. Naturally though, there are going be question marks around he deals with top players. I should have phrased it better though...Moyes would adhere to what Man U want more amicable than say Mourinho..

Of course SA won't be rolling around in fits of laughter, obviously not, Man U is his life. I imagine though, he wounld'nt of been able handle Mourinho taking control.

There were rumours Ancelotti turned the United job down because he was in talks with Madrid at the time. Moyes is a good manager but if it was me i would have went for a proven foreign manager for the job. It's a big ask on Moyes to keep them winning titles like Fergie did.

That's probably half the problem, you had a situation over the last 10 years where you had arguably the greatest manager football has seen, double that up with the fact other top teams have been undermanaged. You then have a scenerio where the fans expect what they have been getting, which won't be the case. It'll be very tough for them..

It's a bit like how Schumacher was at Ferrari, good driver and team, no competition..

If i was a football manger i wouldn't want the man utd job after fergie. Let moyes take the flak 1st and then come in to 'fix things'. I wonder how much of a turn off it must be to still have fergie at the club.

I don't think we are expecting to continue our success at all. Some of us are just a little concerned that we have changed the manager and coaching staff, lost a few players, watched other rivals get better managers and strengthen their squads. Some fans seem to want to bury their heads in the sand but something tells me that unless we sign some quality players, there is little hope of more silverware in the near future.

Just because we are worried and complaining doesn't mean we won't support the club regardless. Some of the United fans on here seem to be incapable of knowing the difference between concern and lack of support. If we can't buy quality players now then how are we going to manage if we are not the top side in England. Winning trophies gives you the money to spend to maintain position.

Yeah of course, i wouldn't expect you to be a glory hunter, hope not anyway :p

It's all about the football, not the stage that surrounds it.
