What spellchecker are you using? I just typed in monkey and it didn't change it to marquee

ah, so you've gone from a whole Universe apart to just a few streets? :p

At 24 yeah. Beckham as a marketing device was in a different universe compared to Bale, for the reasons I've listed. Looks (being a huge plus in advertising) & Posh spice behind him, therefore tabloids/gossip sites would have been after him.

I don't see bale having either of those, so his 'brand' won't appeal to the female demographic, which was a huge factor in Beckham's marketability.

bale is more the friendly lad next door who you'd pop round to borrow a bowl of sugar from. i know i would (borrow some sugar that is)

i'm quite sure he's had his ears pinned.

Different positions mate, a player who can attack the final third with Bales pace and power is always going to command a higher fee.

and there you have it.

i think mata is great and seems like a top bloke too but he's not as marketable as bale. ronaldo and bale have some pretty unique genetics. i admit, the thought of ronaldo and bale together in an attack spawned from inside their own half would be pretty spectacular to see. be interesting to see who leads after 20 metres.

He was happy to leave via the back door to Barcelona, he's kind of made his bed...

It's sad to see him go, but are we really expected to keep waiting for players to leave before we replace them? IMO We've done exactly the right thing with Reina. It's clear his form has slipped and so we've brought in a replacement before we're left scrabbling around in the market with no first choice keeper.

Disagree with the barca back door thing.

I think you're doing Mata a huge disservice :/

he's an awesome player, my second favourite pl player. great attitude, never seen him throw a strop and seems genuinely grateful of the opportunity he has been given. he will never be a player that the press raves about though.

That second one (the last I watched before getting bored of a video that didn't even start until 30 seconds in) went in off his standing leg :/ great!

Worse than Rooney's shinner.

If Bale progresses like he has done he won't be far behind Ronnie, move Ronnie to striker, Bale LF, and watch the opponents pepper their angus for the onslaught.
