Passport neck wallets?

No idea what most of you are going on about the neck pouch drawing attention for IT GOES UNDER YOUR CLOTHES THATS THE WHOLE POINT much like the money belt that everyone then says is a good idea further down.

Only ever used a money belt in Egypt and India purely because of the crowds in market places, bit of small change in a pocket rest of the money for the day in the belt with my emergency credit card.

I've never taken my passport out of a hotel on Holiday unless absolutely necessary for example to go up two of the big towers in Hong Kong you need a passport other than that it lives in the safe with the majority of my money and my flight tickets etc.

What if you are not staying in a Hotel and pack packing or you are travelling in between Hotels....On a train or Bus?

If you're staying in a cheap motel and it doesn't have a safe and you go out for a meal that night? Leave your passport in the motel room?

As said...It all depends on circumstances.

Never heard of them but my uncle was telling me he uses his all the time when travelling.

He wears it underneath his T shirt around his neck and carries his passport money and credit cards with him all the time.

Does anyone here use one?

Cheers

easy:)

I have been travelling since the early 70s and have done round the world overland twice. I never set out without one. If there can be any negative aspects of wearing one it can only be a warm spot on your chest in extreme humid climates. Cloth ones rather than leather are of course preferable.

Money belts are cumbersome in a sitting position and are child's play to remove for an experienced pickpocket when you are not sitting ...... easier in fact than getting into your pocket.

Yea, don't buy those pouches, easily spotted and you are targeted like mad when wearing them.

By that I mean scammers will flock in and just pester you no end.

I use this if I'm traveling through busy locations:

Whilst is does look a little over the top, it easily fits in a wad of cash, passport, all my cards and other bits like keys. Sits under my top, every time I have worn it, no one has seen it.

Such as in Mumbai, I wore this all over and a couple of backpackers had said after spending the night out drinking with me, they had not once seen that on me. As I just put what I wanted to spend that night in my pocket.

Strongly suggest this pouch. It's not waterproof sadly, so if you sweat it does get damp, but just move it onto your hip on your side, very little sweat there.

Hmmm might purchase one of these. Off to India in November and don't want to make it easy for any pick pockets to have a go!

From my personnel travelling experience, money belts and these are too well known and easily targeted, best way we found on my travels was to get a new seal-able pocket stitched into the inside of your trousers.

also I can see the news paper article tourist dragged to death by thief on motorcycle

You wore the same pair of trousers for the duration of your trip? :p

Half measure, every morning I put all of my money, my passport and my return tickets (do paper tickets still exist?) in condoms and swallow them, giving complete peace of mind. Retrieval can be traumatic but it's worth it.

um I had 3 lightweight trousers and washed them in the hostels, I smelt Like victory! between washes :D
Plus my mother is a seamstress so she did the three of them and my mates.

Haha would love to see customs face when you retrieve it, was always funny when you undid your trousers to get documents for cops, this one poor female officer in south Africa thought we were exhibitionist
