********* The Official GTA V (5) thread! *********

If there is a next-gen version of GTA5 planned, they should at least say so now. Yes, I know it's business and they're out to make money, but I can't help but think it's rather dishonest to one moment say "Nope there isn't one", and then once the game is out and has sold millions, come out with a next-gen version which they'd evidently be hoping you'll buy all over again. It sets a rather uncomfortable precedent in my eyes. I don't like this idea of having to pay twice for the game that you should be getting in the first place.

New consoles come about once every 8 years or so. I wouldn't say any precedent it sets would be of any concern to me !

Just buy the game and enjoy it, knowing full well there is likely to be a next gen version of it at some point. It won't be out this year, so accept that you aren't going to wait a year for the next gen version to come out while everybody on your friends list is playiing it and just enjoy it on the current gen.

And if the game is amazing as it proposes to be, you maybe won't feel that bad in 12 months time about buying a next gen HD version of it.

Not sure what to make of those screenshots, the graphics look good in some of them and absolutely horrible in others. Suppose it is console graphics though :p

Cutscenes vs actual gameplay perhaps? The shot of the police cars on the bridge seems far more representative of the actual in-game visuals to me than the others. There's not a lot they can really do about the aliasing. Still, I'm more than happy with that as long as the framerate stays consistent.

Yeah it's mainly the aliasing that stands out, some very jaggy edges. It's to be expected though when I haven't gamed on consoles for the past couple of years. I'll be waiting for a next gen or PC release anyway even though the wait will eat me alive.

Base jumping off a bridge to avoid a police capture, I like that idea.

Still they are not representative of what the game will look like, they are obviously touched up.

One of the things I'm really hoping for in GTA5 is that the NPCs actually have set routines you can track Skyrim style. I like the idea of stalking someone from the mall to their home for example and seeing them park their car etc. It's one of those things that was promised in GTA4 but I never really saw evidence of it. Perhaps I never looked hard enough though.

I don't think the NPCs had set routines, but they did a pretty good job of giving the illusion that they did. You'd see them pull into car parks, driveways, sit on benches, use their phone etc etc.

Imagine the future of GTA, where each person DOES have their own life, and you could stalk them over the course of a few days, learn their routine, then burgle their house while they're out (you'll be able to go into every building). I'd also like to see more Hitman style mechanics, where you can sneak into buildings, and do special takedowns and hide bodies.
