From my experience, a lot of my friends have turned to android after they seen my Nexus 4 and S4. However, i dont know any girls that have traded their iPhones in for an Android. It appears women still see anything with an apple logo on it as Gospel- its more of a style/image thing for women!

I also think that shops are now pushing phones like the S4/HTC One. Wasnt like this before. Apple would always have the best spot in the shop with the best advertising.

Unfortunately they aren't pushing the HTC one and other phones anywhere as much as the GS 4, iphone etc. :( HTC one etc. is still shoved along with all the other phones :o

Samsung have had superb marketing power etc. since the GS 3, GS 3 and note II had its own stands from the moment it was released till the GS 4 came along, each year it just gets bigger and better for them when it comes to marketing power, their brand presence is insane.

Apple are still great too but personally I think Samsung are better in this area now by a decent amount, although they have shot themselves in the foot with all these different GS 4 phones, their market share value has dropped considerably ($12 billion iirc) and GS 4 production has been cut back a lot (although there are other factors involved obviously i.e. people might not feel the need to upgrade from say a GS 3 etc.)

Samsung have been caught 'cheating' with some benchmarks and the i9500. Apparently the GPU clock speeds goes up by 10% in certain benchmarks (480Mhz > 532Mhz) - these speeds are only achieved in specific benchmarks. For apps and other benchmarks the GPU clock will not reach the top speed probably due to over heating and battery drain. Cheeky :p!

man I'm all sorts of lost on this pacman ROM. Is there a way to just have all the dpi etc set to something like normal CM10.1? Like with an override across the whole system?

What happened to your S4 by the way? Did Samsung fix it?

It's true, Android's popularity is growing at a very fast rate, with the Galaxy range leading the charge. You made a decent observation there between male and females, whereas the latter seem to value the iPhone a lot more and there's definitely a correlation between style and image for them :D

man I couldn't get on with that so I've gone CM10.1 and it's good to see they've ironed out pretty much everything :)

I think thats a slight over generalisation. If I could make another and use my other half as an example, she uses an iPhone (which I made her buy when we met.. Samsung Tocco Lite? I think not!) and she's very happy with it, the concept of boredom with a phone doesn't really occur to her and the iPhone still is absolutely the best all rounder in terms of ecosystem/app support and the closed ecosystem making it pretty well impossible for her to do the sorts of things to her phone that I do to mine that ends up with me needing to spend an evening fixing it.

To my mind it's got very little to do with style over substance or image, it's the fact the iPhone is very good at what it does and the interest stops there.
 
Well, it does make sense to allow full screen apps to take as much power from the GPU as possible. However, code was found specifically mentioning certain benchmark apps that get the higher GPU clock, something which Samsung didn’t address in its response, so we’re not sure we believe the company in this case.

No big whoop though - might explain why the i9500 just pips the i9505 in some of the benchmarks ;).

When it comes to women, its always style over substance. This applies to all aspects of their lives. IPhone = Style/Image.

I disagree. My gf just loves the Apple brand and she has everthing that is Apple related. She has a macbook, iphone5 which she upgrades religiously every year, a ipad and an ipad mini. Not only does the phone do the job for her but she's not into the whole customisation thing that Android offers. Out of the box Apple products just work. Hell she doesn't even bother with the new firmware updates that are released and I end up installing everything for her. Her best friend is exactly the same and literally has everything Apple too. I guess their both Apple fanatics ;) They're both very image conscious and try and mock my Android phone (whatever I have at the time) In their mind Apple epitomizes the ultimate coolness. She even has this Louis Vuitton case for her iphone and ipad (that's going a bit too far IMO) :o

On the other hand there's a girl I know who is the polar opposite of my gf and she has an Android phone, and into gaming, actually she's a self confessed geek and has rooted her phone installed custom ROMs, the whole 9 yards.

It's just a mindset really. Out of the box Apple products just work but they also ooze coolness which some people crave, that's my opinion and observations that have been made when talking to my gf and my other friend.

Since it was rooted they charged £50 to repair at as my warranty is void. They replaced the motherboard and it seems okay now!

The truth of it is you get guys like that (like the people who flat refuse to root, there's also plenty of chaps in the Apple forums here who wouldn't dream of having anything other than an iPhone... I was there myself until recently although I have the luxury of having a job that means I have to have all the new Apple stuff too) and girls that aren't it's not a sex thing apart from the fact I think it's easily agreed that you get more guy geeks.
