FWIW I think suarez is a little genius and I'd love him at my club, this cannibal stuff has to stop though.

Suarez and Diouf!

Actually, Suarez would fit in well at Leeds... Michael Brown could break people's legs, then Diouf would spit on them for flavour, and Suarez could feast on them as they lay in agony:p

Soldado confirmed on the Spurs OS now - Payments supposed to be £10m up front & £6m for 3 years - should pay for himself if he carries on scoring :)

Will be sad to see Bale go IF he genuinely has expressed the desire to do so (big IF as there is no official word from spurs or GB/agents, just the same old rhetoric from RM and the papers). We need to rinse RM for all they are worth imo but if its going to happen, we should get it done soon so we can use the money elsewhere i.e. Lamela (Who Baldini is looking at "apparantly") and possibly Willian who (reportedly) wants out of Anzhi already.

Its a pity they only want him as a trophy signing in response to Neymar to Barca.

After hammering him all season very few Arsenal supporters will admit to wanting him until he's actually signed.

A few started the whole "he'll be different at Arsenal, Wenger won't tolerate it" nonsense but couldn't fully commit to admitting they'd love him.

I would want him, i think £50m is a bit much but it's a crazy summer with big spenders.

If it's him or nothing then yeah I would pay the £50m. Not sure anyone could actually say they loved him as a player, because he does come across as a nasty piece of work.

But as a player he would certainly push us up a level I believe. So yes I would welcome the signing.

You should like Diouf, he's the reason you beat us at ER last season :p

He's injured this time around though ;)

I know two people going up to Leeds on Saturday, and I'm close to joining them... Never been to Elland Road before(or leeds tbh).

Diouf is still suspended from being sent off against us last time :p(not often that happens in the league)

I know it means sweet FA any more but you are so right, they wont "love him" like we do, they will expect him to hit the ground running and score loads of goals....we dont, we still love that we have a player like that, that gets us on the edge of our seats.

With my rose tinted glasses....I want...wish..hope he stays for one more season and we smash the league to bits.

Looking forward to Soldado coming to Spurs and not so much Bale leaving :(

United on the other hand... intersting to see how Moyes plays it out... come on Utd!

If you're going to make a weekend of it, you should go. Leeds on a saturday is a cracking night out.

lol no way that'll happen. we'll pay it off early when their bank balance bites the dust but i'm happy it's done now.

i've accepted bale's going now but looking forward to see how the new signings perform. also looking forward to holtby and sig stepping up.

Were I an Arsenal fan I'd much rather spend £50m on Suarez than get no-one at all.

For all his many faults he's still a top class player and would help you significantly.

I still stand by what i said, id rather us have gotten Higuain than waste our time on Suarez. At least with Higuain, we wouldnt have the baggage that Suarez carries ie diving, biting etc etc. Maybe Higuain isnt as 'good' as Suarez is but out of the both, i feel Higuain would have been a better fit for us.

Thats not to say Suarez isnt a top class player as he is but id rather us not have to deal with the crap that comes with him.

But its all moot anyways talking about Suarez, its pretty clear he wont be sold to us or another PL club and this supposed clause is pretty tight...Suarez wont be fighting it which says it all.

I'm of the same opinion to be honest, much in the same way we paid off Southampton for Bale.

Could be a big season for Holtby, but apparently there are some German teams sniffing around Sig (who shares the same agent as Bale & Caulker). On another note, I read somewhere that Bale is only contracted to his Agency until the end of the season, could explain why they are agitating for a big move..

*******s.

yeh his agency contract is up soon and it would make sense. i wouldn't be too gutted if we lost sig as i'm sure holtby can be a great playmaker. him and chadli feeding soldado could be great and we should go in big for lamela if bale does go. such a shame he looks to be leaving, we could be real competitors with him. i still think we'll be good enough for top 4 without him.

this has chucked a spanner in the works

Tottenham's move for Vlad Chiriches is on the verge of collapse after Steaua Bucharest's owner reportedly cancelled the transfer.

Source: Daily Express

Reports in Romania suggest that Staeua owner Gigi Becali was infuriated after Tottenham tried to push through the deal today.

According to Romanian newspaper ProSport, Becali called Steaua's general manager in a rage telling him: "Who are Tottenham? Why can't they wait? Don't do the transfer! I'm not selling! I am Gigi Becali!"

Steaua are now thought to be intent on holding onto Chiriches as they embark on Champions League qualification, potentially ruling out a move to Spurs or elsewhere until January at the earliest.

Earlier today Chiriches' agent, Ioan Becali, suggested that a £6.9m move was imminent.

Becali told Ilsussidiario.et: "The deal is 99 per cent done.

"At this stage it only lacks the player's signature."

But Tottenham reportedly wanted to get a deal done with some urgency, possibly wanting to tie down Chiriches before letting Steven Caulker join Cardiff, and their conduct is thought to have rubbed Becali up the wrong way.

The flambouyant Becali is a former Member of the European Parliament and has also been an MP in Romania, but is currently serving a three-year prison term for abuse of power.

Tottenham thought they had pulled off something of a coup by beating Chelsea, Manchester City and Roma to Chiriches' signing, but it now looks as though they could face fresh competition for the player in January unless Becali softens his stance.

We've been playing Sig in the wrong position, he is never a left winger. Personally I hope he doesn't go anywhere as I think he could have a big impact for us this season and we are certainly going to need a goalscoring midfielder. Really hope he doesn't go, especially when Parker, Huddlestone and Livermore really need to be moved on first.

How do you think he would be a better fit, in footballing terms for Arsenal? Not the baggage, I'm curious what attributes of Higuains game would be a better fit than Suarez :)

As for not fighting the contract, why doesn't he do what most others do that actually want away and hand in an official transfer request?

if we go 4-3-3 it'll be

chadli, soldado, holtby or sig. both paulinho and dembele will drive forward too so it could be a winning formula but i'd be much happier if we bagged lamela and i'd have massive respect for levy if we went in with a serious offer.

Eh, people are saying a deal worth £104.5mil for Bale, which will be announced after Spurs sign 3 players. Soldado, Coentrao and Di Maria, with Coentrao and Di Maria suddenly being worth the 30mil Real paid for them + maybe 30-40mil + the rest in addon's depending on how Bale does.......

Still sounds ridiculous, and its still more a case of Real being in trouble if they buy Bale and keep Coentrao and Di Maria, neither will get any games and with them taking what I would think would be 12mil at least, maybe 15mil between them in wages a season Real might be viewing it as offloading two players that will now cost them 45-60mil for their remaining contract rather than passing Spurs "60 mil" of players.

Di Maria I think is worth 20-30mil somewhere, he's a very solid winger just not truly brilliant, Coentrao isn't worth anything close to what they paid for him.

Either way, 40-50mil in cash + those two players is still a heck of a deal.... sell Coentrao on next season for 15-20mil and Spurs will be laughing.
