94mph in a 70 - Scotland Police - what to expect?

It'll almost definitely be a fixed penalty rather than a summons, probably 3 points + £60 but if you're unlucky, up to 6 points + larger fine.

Wow, some proper doo gooders on this forum lately. Because no one speeds do they..

Doubt he would be saying it being hit at 70 on the motorway either :P

I don't consider myself a doo gooder at all, but I actually like the ability to drive and keeping a clean license and not speeding takes little to no self restraint, it's pretty selfish and various other words that spring to mind for people to do it on public roads there is no need for it at all.

And then have the cheek to worry/cry when they get caught?

Scotland=death by h̶a̶g̶g̶i̶s̶ hanging...
Seriously, be thankful if you get 3 points/ £60. Another 6 mph and its getting banworthy.

The top part of my post wasnt actually aimed at you that's why i quoted you afterwards :p. Everyone has their speeds they like the drive at etc, personally because im always skint and cannot afford to i stick to 60ish in the slow lane. Although if the roads are dead (say early morning) why cant people confident and capable enough go higher than 70. The only bumholes is the ones speeding up your rear in rush hour and weaving so you move out of the way, or even worse flashing their full beam. Just my opinion.

I think if you read up etc. You should be ok. I knew someone who worked doing the legal work in a court. They said loads of people defend themselves and get lower sentences and get let off.

As much as speeding is wrong. There are worst times to do it than others. The money spin on fines is prob only going to more speed traps anyway.

Speeding at 40 near a school (30 limit) is far more common than doing 90 on a motorway. and in my opinion not to mention a great offence.

When you get court notice through through plead guilty and take time to write apologetic and "I've learnt my lesson"/"Clean license for x years" type supporting statement.

98.7mph on M74 in bright sunshine - 3 points (SP50), £130 fine was what I got late last year.

Will depend on weather, police statement and a bit of luck.

Friend of mine got 6 points and £200 fine..but he was likely being mouthy and also it was raining.

IMO anyone caught speeding should be forced to drive a **** car, and only a **** car for 12 months.

Nothing would teach speed awareness better than being restricted to a smart car only for 12 months ;)

But they'd just rag the **** out of it and probably be a bigger danger on the road. I know I was way more dangerous in my old 1.2 than I am in my 2.0. There is a large reason not to slow down in a slow car, and that's because it takes so god damn long to get back up to speed.

There is a reason he ACPO guidelines in the UK allow you to go 95 before getting a court summons and that's because 95 isn't really that dangerous on a motorway, That's the same reason you only have to go 50 in a 30 to go to court. 50 in a 30 is more dangerous than 95 in a 70. Simple fact.

Sigh..

Speed doesn't kill. Inappropriate use of speed kills.

Get off your high horse

Not really no, not on purpose. And certainly not a do gooder, just can't be bothered looking out for cameras and plod everywhere. I developed this strange concept of leaving a little earlier and making my car speedo thing read the same as the little signs you see dotted around the place. It's surprisingly easy.
