John Carmack says NVidia drivers are 'consistently superior'

That's funny as he said "I haven't done side by side benchmarking."

he also said "Amd was occasionally faster."

Talk about twisting words to suit.

At 2.02.40 he admits he prefers Intel and Nvidia.

So from that I can see that's not bigging AMD up

When is the 7970 faster than the Titan?

Lol, way for them to take things out of context and misquote Carmack! He said AMD are occassionally faster and he's being diplomatic by saying their hardware is top notch, not that Nvidia's isn't either. That tweet also fails to point out why Carmack has preferred Nvidia all that time.

Those types of tweets are getting really annoying now... Especially ones that try to make headlines by misquoting statements...

Lol agreed. I don't care what he says but given the context of this thread previously i felt it was worth posting for the lulz.

How on earth does a carefully worded answer so as to not get drawn into claiming one was better or faster than the other end up as being spun as pro-AMD? (its actually kind of pathetic).

The point he was very clear about was that AMD had made massive improvements over the last few months and was enthusiastic for the future but he was very careful not to be seen as favoring any one company too much.

I would think John Carmack was referring to OpenGL support, which is what his game engines seem to all be based on, a point that seems to have been completely missed in all the excitement !

Personally I never had issues with ID games they were always polished and smooth, even Rage ran perfectly on Nvidia (as I had not updated to the latest drivers with a fix for some other new game that caused problems) And for others the Guy had patches and workarounds out in hours, I think it was just bad timing.

I think the guy is a one off and gaming would not be where it is today without him.
