Great experience with apple

Had an iphone 5 since December and recently the lock button on the top completely stopped working. Booked an appointment and just expected them to fix the phone there and then, nope walked out the shop with a brand new phone. Great customer service and took all of 10 minutes.

Anyone experienced the same? Just seems very rare a company would hand you a brand new product without trying to fix or charge you, especially considering the guy didn't even check the button himself, just watched me press it a few times.

Apple care, it's great! 09 mbp has been in twice for major repair work over the 3 years of apple care, once I couldn't even replicate the problem.

Also exchanged my ipod nano on the spot last year because I broke the hold button from over use. Hell the guy typed in the serial code wrong originally and offered me a replacement one a few months outside of the apple care period (only noticed when we got it out and it was the wrong colour) which I thought was super nice of him/apple.

Half the marketing thing of apple is the company/customer service is all about loyalty and good quality customer care making us go back for more and paying that bit more for their products. Works way to well on me.

Mate at work had a problem with iphone 5, wouldn't charge, he took it to the local Apple shop in Plymouth, the "genius" tried to repair, blew out the charging socket, it worked a little better for 5 mins. Next day dead again, had to arrange another appointment the following week, went in had more hassle with them eventually they took the back off and found that battery had swollen and damaged the charging circut, replced the 5 month old phone. Not good service.

Probably depends on the person who deals with it and if they're under any pressure to try and not to just swap the devices.

I have seen mixed reviews with friends, one friend had his macbook repaired so many times, even when it was clearer self damage mostly due to his son. My other friend they refused to repair his machine even thou it was still under warranty.

Generally they seem good but at times its really bad.

No sent my iPhone 5 away as home button stopped working and they sent it back repaired!

Then a month later it fails again so booked in to see someone and he's says he will fix it if you can come back later so I moaned and said this is the second time it's been repaired and he gave me a new one.

This is the sort of thing I miss since moving away from Apple. I've never had any of my past iPhones go wrong let alone my 2008 Macbook but having that confidence to just walk in/book an appointment and have it rectified rapidly is just great.

That said, my only experience with Apple has been taking in a neices iPod Nano with a dodgy screen. I had expected a small cost for the repair but instead they gave her the latest generation Nano for free. I was blown away.

Ive been in twice in the last year due to an issue with my iPhone 5. Both times were very seamless affairs. First time was a lazy home button that was intermittent and the second time was for a small 'stain' on the camera lens that leaked through to the photos. Both times i walked out with a brand new iPhone 5, and the beauty of icloud is that everything is back up and running on my phone with a few hours of sync :)

Fantastic service from the guys there, and very friendly with chit chat while filling out forms and replicating the problem.

Its why i will always buy apple, they do look after you as long as you go in with the right attitude!

Apple are great.

My first iPhone 5 had the green screen bug, went back to Carphone warehouse the next day and they said since I had opened it, they weren't liable and said I'd need to send it away to Apple. I asked them to phone Apple from their store as I found this utterly unacceptable and Apple said to just replace the device with a brand new phone and they'd replace Carphone Warehouse's stock.

So that was great. Next day I realised my new phone had the same problem. Took it back, exact same thing happened. Manager told me that it was my problem not theirs and I insisted he phone Apple - Apple told him to replace it there and then.

I'm sure the good customer service of Apple was amplified compared to how **** Carphone Warehouse's was, but still, to notch customer service.

I don't think they do any repairs to iPhones at all in the Apple stores, if there's a fault, you get a refurbished unit. Great for those with faults under warranty (except you have drive to an Apple Store regardless of how close one is to you), but...

I'm not so keen on the standard swap-out price for a faulty unit. I was at the Genius bar last week to get mine replaced after the lock button stopped working. There were 2 more people at the bar with exactly the same fault being exchanged under warranty. They took £139 off me, because it's a few months older. A fourth person was paying the same price for a refurb because they'd launched their phone against a wall while drunk, smashing the front and back.

Can't help but think that's a bit disproportionate, there needs to be some variation in their 'repair' charges regardless of whether they deem it better to repair or replace!

I've heard stories similar to what you have described. a lot of ones saying they're really good, but with the horror stories in between.

Never had to use any warranty with apple before, but I'm happy I received 3 year applecare with my macbook to atleast give me that bit more cover.

- I have used Logitech's warranty before, and they have been flawless at each time. I was 4 months out of warranty on my last contact, so they offered me 35% off anything in the store!

Back when iPhone 4 came out, I had a battery problem so I phoned them up and they sent me a new phone straight away. And then sent packaging to post the faulty phone back as well.

Macbook pro retina, image retention problem. Went to the repair centre, installed a new screen, had the laptop back within a few days with a brand new screen.

Another thing I was impressed by, their telephone customer service. Phoned the number, didn't have to speak to a computer for too long and I was straight through to an actual human. Didn't have to wait on hold at all either.

My iPad 3 had a manufacturing defect on the side of the metal bezel where the back plate met the screen when it was delivered on launch day.

I phoned Apple Customer Service and was told that it could take a few weeks to swap it out due to stock levels as it was an in demand new product. The Apple CS rep told me I could keep and continue to use the defective iPad until she could get me a new replacement delivered. Three days later I received a brand new iPad, a quick backup and restore to the replacement and everything was fine. The same Apple CS rep I originally spoke to then phoned me directly to make sure I was 100% happy, only once she was sure everything was fine did she arrange the uplift of the defective one.

Fantastic customer service from start to finish!

Yeah, its generally really good but its not perfect. The only thing I have ever had act up was a Samsung monitor, was out of warranty. I just emailed someone expecting them to tell me to pay however they came to my door the next day and gave me a newer model which was actual bigger and took the old monitor without even checking if it was broken.

I've had 2 replacement iPhones from Apple now. I'm pretty sure the ones they give you are refurbs though, it's hardly going to be costing them that much.

I've heard from friends of them getting a box from the back and unwrapping it, so you might get lucky and get a totally brand new model.

By a brand new iPhone, do mean mean the retail ones or a white boxed one that they pulled out from the back?

Im thinking about swapping mine as the battery life is terrible but I dont want a refurb....
