Because it's the mooslims innit!I think absolutely nothing of it, can't fathom why any one would have an opinion on it to be honest, shock news.... people give to charity!

I thought Muslims generally just donated to their local mosques rather than "legitimate" charities.
I know that legitimate is probably not the best word to use. What I mean by that is that donations to mosques are usually spent on things like improving the mosque rather than traditional charitable activities.
Thread of the year.
It's the donations from religious groups anyway. As in the local mosque gives more to chairty than the local athiest group. So really all it comes down to is numbers. The more people in a religious group the more the chance of big benefactors which bumps up the average and being part of a religious group you will feel pressured to donate which is why more people doesn't also equal more people that don't give.
Your views on Muslim are Britain most charity Givers
This is what it says you have to subscribe to the paper so I copied it.
It is Islamic law to give 2.5% of your balance/gold annually to the needy. You don't have a choice.
What is the nature of the charities? it's possible this counts money given to their local church, synagogue, mosque or whatever which are all registered as charities.
What's better, a muslim, jew or christian giving £1000 to their place of worship or an atheist giving £100 to an animal sanctuary?
All well and good, but the Muslin faith is probably the biggest one in the UK...
I don't think that a local atheist group is allowed to be a registered charity in the same way that a mosque or muslim organisation would be though. Charitable donations by atheists would most likely be done on an individual basis.
