Muslim are Britain most charity givers

I thought Muslims generally just donated to their local mosques rather than "legitimate" charities.

I know that legitimate is probably not the best word to use. What I mean by that is that donations to mosques are usually spent on things like improving the mosque rather than traditional charitable activities.

It's the donations from religious groups anyway. As in the local mosque gives more to chairty than the local athiest group. So really all it comes down to is numbers. The more people in a religious group the more the chance of big benefactors which bumps up the average and being part of a religious group you will feel pressured to donate which is why more people doesn't also equal more people that don't give.

I don't think that a local atheist group is allowed to be a registered charity in the same way that a mosque or muslim organisation would be though. Charitable donations by atheists would most likely be done on an individual basis.

Makes sense, they probably give most of it to other muslims. Don't really get the same sense of community as an atheist.

I can't say that I care.

I probably have a stronger position that the OP should have his/her access to create threads removed seeing as they keep creating these threads with no opinion of their own ...

What is the nature of the charities? it's possible this counts money given to their local church, synagogue, mosque or whatever which are all registered as charities.

What's better, a muslim, jew or christian giving £1000 to their place of worship or an atheist giving £100 to an animal sanctuary?

I'm more impressed with atheist giving away £200 out of basic human kindness than a Muslim giving away £500 because he's scared he won't get his 72 virgins in heaven if he doesn't.

Given their stance on the slaughter of animals I think the animal sanctuary is far from the top of the support list.

All well and good, but the Muslin faith is probably the biggest one in the UK...

Nope......its the 2nd biggest with a MASSIVE 5%...59% of the Population in the UK are Christian.

24% dont follow a religion....they are a massive minority.

That's not what I said. It's not donations to mosques, it's donations from mosques.

It's true, you can't go anywhere these days without seeing people walking around praising their squares of loosely woven cloth
It's particularly prominent among young children which means it's still growing..
