Muslim charities seem only to cater to Muslims whereas Christian ones seem to cater to everyone.

Least few charities I saw. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Oh I'm aware of the derailment etc. but amongst that there is some casual conversation of people with genuine questions.

deuse for example was aware of Zakaat but was "thinking in post" if you will, to fill in the blanks with a discussion here.

Anyone that gives them money. If you collect on behalf of a chairty it doesn't matter what sort of group you are. My local often collects money on behalf of charities, they certainly aren't a religious group.

does the full article say how many people were polled and if the polls were only done in one geographic location or spread out across the country to get an accurate sample?

tbh I hate polls you can make them suit your agenda very easily
 
I'd imagine each religious group is giving to charities that they are affiliated to, with Catholics predominatly giving to CAFOD and Muslims predominatly giving to Help for Heros.
You wouldn't get that same group giving to a Dog Charity whereas many other groups would.
