After seeing those pics above I was reluctant to post my boring pic from today but what the hell.....:p

Been having a hoot on some great single track 5 mins drive away from me. Callander Estate Trails near Falkirk - Canada Wood, Auchengean, Craigieburn and Kilbean trails, all interlinked and can be ridden in different loops to your hearts content:-

Been developed over the last year or so by lots of volunteer trail fairies with help from Bespoke Bikes in Denny. Really fun single track with some nice climbs to get the blood pumping. Here's my recce run for a 15 mile loop today:-

My Cube at the top of the climb at the Kilbean Trail.

Kieran what are your options?

The bronson does look very good, bit worried about the cost of new forks and rims etc for it. Need to see if I can find a reasonable price on the Uprising and if it would take my CCDBA.

I got fed up with my forks decided to suck it up and try servicing my Boxxers my self, ordered TFtuning service kit with Racing Bros low friction seals yesterday, it arrived this morning, took a little longer than had planned but i wanted to be careful and make sure i did it properly, dont know what i was concerned about, it was all a relatively straight forward apart from getting the new wiper seals in:eek: that was emotional! but they went in eventually.

Took the bike out for a quick blast, all i can say is WOW:eek: day and night, granted TFT will have made them even better, but i didnt have time to book them in and wait, i'm very happy with todays work, the suspension feels nice and balanced front and rear now.
gave all bearing and the drivetrain a quick once over as well, everything is feeling silky smooth:D

^^ far to clean a bike! get some dirt on it!

:)

Had just washed it before heading to the trails. Nice and dry as well so no mud. Was back up there again this morning for another 16 mile loop. Moved up to 7th overall on Strava on one of the climbs so I are chuffed with that.

I'm back from my week in north Wales, long story short: the beast at coed y brenin: meh, llanberis path up/down Snowdon: amazing and more fun than the Rangers' IMO, and Penmachno: hugely underrated and one of my favourite trails even though I got lost and only rode 2/3rds of both loops :o

Can someone please explain why my rotor would have worn like it has the in above picture. Seems like two channels.

The rotor isn't particularly old, around 6 months and hasn't had an excessive amount of use. Use about once a week and a week in Morzine.

Before going to France I never noticed any wear, old pads came out, looked and had worn normally. Then fitted the Superstar Kevlar pads. When I got home I checked the pads and noticed the wear above.

Could it be an issue with the pads or rotor that caused this? Its a Formula rotor with The One brakes.

A bit annoyed I've got to buy a new rotor already

Must try coming down Llanberis some time. I don't get people that dislike Penmachno, I love the place, can't wait to go back.

Different strokes and all that I guess.

I bit the bullet and managed 16 miles across Salisbury plane this morning having not ridden a bike for almost 10 years and being considerably fatter than I was. My new Trek is great, but my god I need a more comfortable saddle. I'm not going to turn pro or be doing more than the odd casual ride every week or so, so the efficiency loss of a nice fat sqidgy saddle isn't a problem. What is the best comfortable mountain bike saddle for larger chaps? I've decided to stop short of one of those wide ones with springs in the Postman uses :p

Charge Spoon - Love mine!
*snip*
Yep got to agree.
I've been looking for a saddle to fit my fat ass since the late 90's, i just came to the conclusion i'd never find the perfect saddle. Although i wont make any claims that its perfect, the Charge spoon, is probably the closest i've come to it, its also reasonabley cheap and it comes in a nice selection of colours and designs as well.:)
