**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Yes, i clearly understood this but now there saying its not mandatory anymore, why be so contradictory. Should be just one or the other, they either push kinnect or fold on it.

You evidently didn't; having Kinect in the box means everyone has one. Not requiring it to be connected at all times doesn't mean they aren't pushing Kinect; the fact it's in the box does.

Allowing the console to operate without it means that people who choose not to use it can do so (as should be their right), and also means if the sensor fails the console can still be used, or if they take their console to another room or house they don't have to drag the sensor with them.

I'm sure exclusive games will integrate it's use quite well but 9 out of 10 cross platform games will have poor/pointless uses for it IMO.
Give people the choice then they will have an indication if it's the next big thing in gaming or just a novelty.

Come on, dont play stupid, you and i both know the majority of gamers wont use/want kinnect, selling seperately meaning those who do want the product can go and buy it, like the PS eye. That works wonders.
Who's playing stupid about a dev ice they havn't even seen working in the real world?

How do you KNOW that theirs not one game that works with the controller and adds a lot to the games fun/ intensity whilst playing it that wont interest you.

Who;s to say some big game comes out get decent reviews but when paired with the kinect adds a new dimension of voice interaction etc with the game.

KNOWING you can play the game like it was intended is a vastly different mindset for developers and gamers.

Personally BF4 is going to be my main game, I would love some very small interactions with Kinect for voice commands, throwing a grenade and knife attacks whilst doing everything else in the normal way.

This doesn't make the game a Kinect game, but would add some nice little interactions.

Now all they have to do is release a console only package and I'll buy one. I REALLY don't want to have to pay for hardware I won't be using. I honestly can't see why anyone other than little girls with their dance games and so on would want a kinect???
I can't see any benefit in motion/voice control for games like call of duty/halo/driving games where as someone earlier brought up a very good point, you wouldn't want to be shouting commands at the same time as being in party chat??
In a fps shootem up you want to have both hands on the controller while chatting to your taem mates. Same with most games really.
Anyway

Why is everyone who is concerned about Privacy a member of the "tin hat" brigade?

People have privacy concerns, it's the price of living in an increasinggly digital society. People have the same issues with facebook, google, apple. People don't understand how it works so they are wary.

You advertise something as "listening" all the time it's gonna scare/annoy some people! At the moment all the companies listed here are complicit in providing private information to the US government.

It's up to companies to earn our trust if they hold our information, it should not be taken for given.

All the people promoting Kinect and the amazing voice features, are you using all this stuff now on your 360 daily? Or did you go back to navigating with a controller after the novelty wore off?

You didn't have to use it before...
Whether I used it or not It had to be connected. I don't want a camera pointing at me whilst I play games. I've always said, whilst Kinect was required to be plugged in I wanted nothing to do with the new box. Now that they've changed their mind, I'm interested.

And if people had paid attention, you'd know that even at the point when the Kinect was required to be plugged in, it could be turned off. Completely off. As in not looking at you, not listening to you. Off. Yet people still complained.

Not everybody believes what they're told though, and companies are not always honest. I can understand why people are sceptical, doesn't mean I don't believe ms though.

I could easily say if you pull my finger I won't trump, doesn't mean I won't though ;) :p

It's not a niche market if every Xbox owner has one.

It is if nobody wants to use it, you aren't going to sell Kinect based games if the demand isn't there even if everybody owns the equipment. For developers it might become more trouble/cost to implement than it's worth.

No complaints from me and I know you can turn if off BUT I was simply doing what I have the right to do - when a product isn't to my liking I won't buy it. I don't want a camera pointing in my face - switched on or off, nor do I want an item sat under the TV that I'll never use. So no its not a case of people moaning because they can.

Kinect no longer needed to be plugged in, I now have every intention of picking an Xbox One up after launch.

Your argument makes no sense. You'll now be buying an Xbox One because you don't have to have Kinect plugged in, even though you could have it switched completely off before. Makes absolutely no sense to me. What's so scary about a camera being pointed at you? If it's off, why not point it at the wall, or just leave it behind your TV?

I don't like camera's, plenty of people don't like them. Why should I have to have one pointing at me when all I want to do is play a few games. Shove it behind the TV you say, that's just stupid when I could ... not plug it in!

Why does it even matter when it's off? Seriously, how can something that's off bother you? It's just coming across as people moaning for the sake of it.

You seem to be more bothered by my choice than I am about Kinect being plugged in. :p

When they announced that Kinect was a requirement, I said fine I ain't interested. Now they've changed their mind, I'll buy. What's so wrong about that? I'm not screaming at the top of my voice like some little fanboy - there are people doing that but not everyone is.

I have no intention or interest in Kinect, I don't like camera's and I don't want one pointing at me - I don't care if its on or off. And to have something sat under the TV that I'd never use, well to me that's stupid, why can't I just put it in it's box - if its 'off' then why can't I unplug it - oh wait I now can!

I'm not moaning nor complaining I just didn't want a console where I HAD to have a camera plugged in. ;)
